LSU Swamp Thread

I think if LSU had real dirt on Kelly it would be out there right now. Just seems odd. Tough look to attract the next coach as well. LSU will wind up paying him pretty much all of it, if there was a smoking gun it would be out there already. Kelly gets at least 45 mil and I doubt we hear much from him for a while. Certainly not going to be a media darling but somebody will hire him if he wants to work again but maybe he doesn't.

LSU isn't getting out of this with some hearsay nonsense and I highly doubt his agent let him sign a contract that allows him to be fired with cause for some of the crap that people are posting even if true

Added some clarity to your post.
Was he ever criminally charged ? Did he pay the victim? Always thought it was similar to boeheim killing someone on the highway. I’m sure both didn’t set out to kill someone.

I’m no Kelly fan but feels like we are assuming a lot w that one

I'm pretty sure there was civil litigation and ND paid.

Exactly. Totally different than Boeheim, which was an accident that was not his fault at all
Well not totally different but didnt know ND paid him. Thx for clarification. If he was a murderer I doubt he gets all these jobs. Terrible accident

I’m sure Boeheims insurance compensated that guy too.

I think many of us can understand a scenario where we're going 10 miles over the limit on the highway and hit a pedestrian where we least expect someone to be walking. Yes speeding is wrong, but I'm guessing every single one of us has gone 10 miles over the limit before.

I could be wrong, but I think many of us would be smart enough not to send a kid up in a 50 foot hydraulic lift during a wind storm.

Not only that but walking on a highway is illegal.

Would you be smart enough to NOT go up a 50 foot hydraulic lift in a windstorm? Or would your likely less than minimum wage job (if paid at all) be worth it? Did Kelly put a gun to his head? This whole "Kelly killed a kid" narrative is just "I hate all things ND" taken to extremes.

Now, was it extremely excrement laden that he continued practice even after learning of the death? Yes it was. Hate him for that, for sure.

Yeah .. most people are considering it is literally written on the lift as a caution for wind speed exceeding a certain mph to not use it. We aren't talking about 10 mph wind gusts here it was far worse than that. You are also talking about exploiting a student who probably would have given an arm to be part of the program and have a future in football. Kelly knew better and anyone thinking otherwise is naive.

For context:

The accident: On October 27, 2010, 20-year-old Declan Sullivan was using a scissor lift to film a football practice when a sudden, powerful wind gust of over 50 mph caused the lift to topple.

The standard wind speed limit for outdoor-rated scissor lifts is 28 mph (approximately
12.5 m/s12.5 m/s). If the wind speed exceeds this limit at any point, the platform must be immediately lowered and operation stopped until the wind speed drops below that threshold.

ND was literally fined for OSHA violations. I'm not really sure how anyone can defend that little bag of douche.

To be clear, I am not defending that LARGE bag of douche. I'm saying the "he killed a kid" narrative is over the top. But it's the internet, so whatever 🙄

He did by putting him in an extremely dangerous situation. The fact that people compare this to the Boeheim incident just blow my mind. You knowingly put a kid in a very dangerous situation and his death was a result.

It’s negligence not murder. Let’s tap the brakes on calling someone a murderer. Boeheim isn’t a murderer either but a negligible accident occurred.

We tend to create these narratives but calling someone a murderer is over the top

Seriously stop it ... I said he is responsible. This type of bullsh1t of denial of responsibility is so old. I pray to God you aren't a parent or a steward of young people. He put that kid in a lift in a dangerous situation, he is RESPONSIBLE. A person can speed down the highway (see Henry Ruggs) creating a dangerous situation killing someone but he isn't a murderer. Twist the words however you wish ..
