Luke Carney

If Fran wasn't willing to play Luke down 31-3
after 3 quarters, he won't make a change now. He seems to be too stubborn to make that call. It's sink or swim with Rickie, and hope for the best.
If Fran keeps Rickie in the rest of the year and we get the same results from him every game. That is the definition of coaching malpractice

How can you look at his play, stats, or anything else and think 4-2 is easily possible? The known entity here just had an absolute abomination of a performance against the worst passing D in college football. But the other unknown entity or entities are what they're nervous about? The dude has had 3 years being coached up by P4 coaches and still couldn't eek out an acceptable performance against a D that a semi-compentent QB would have carved up. They're gunna fix in 2 weeks what couldn't be fixed in 3 years? Trotting him out again is madness and tells me the coaching staff cares more about relationships than having the stones to make tough decisions and finding ways to win during adversity. And I say that as a Fran Brown fan.

What part of "if he is fixed" are you missing? IMO he is no where near being capable of being fixed this year. At the same time I do not think the coaches have given up on that yet.

I’m very fortunate not to have to make the decision on who to start. Fran is still the man whose team is facing a tough year with less than ideal options. Angeli’s injury was devastating to the team. Best wishes to the coaches as they try to find a way to six wins. It’s tough to watch but harder to live.

I don’t think it’s 100% but I’ve seen some posters allude to Williams not even being close to ready for game action
We’ve seen exactly one snap from Carney and zero from Williams yet everyone here seems to think they know which one is the better option, and that’s better than what we are seeing now. It’s all conjecture and wishful thinking.

Coaches want to win as much or more than the fans. To think they aren’t going to do whatever it takes to win is ridiculous.

I think they should rotate series between the 3 QBs against Pitt, so we fans can make a proper assessment.

Well, yeah.

We want to see Carney (or Williams, or Belin) because we don't know.

We think we know enough about Collins at this point.

I thought we hired someone whose specific job was to evaluate portal talent and find those that are a fit. While I know this can't be an exact science, is Collins that big a miss that he never should have been offered in the first place? Granted he had a limited background to analyze, but were there indications going forward that he had issues?

Let’s just say Carney is the real deal and wins some big games down the stretch and is a capable P4 starting QB.

Can we keep him next year to sit 2 years behind Angeli? Until he’s a Junior. Doubtful

Does he get us wins against Miami and ND on the road? Must win games for them to get to the CFP. Highly doubtful.

Can Rickie beat UNC and BC at home? 2 teams that are not going to sniff bowl games. Very Likely. Prob Vilarri in the wildcat can beat those 2 squads.

So now we’re arguing over 2 wins with Pitt and GT that are on the table with a QB change.

The fanbase reaction is just show us someone different and they must be better. Honestly that’s where I’m at too.

This is one of those decisions it would be good to have the data nerds and metrics guys weigh in on. As a fanbase the eye test tells us that he’s a trainwreck. If everything with the tape and analytics show that he has actually regressed week to week then it’s an easier decision.

Are you thinking of Klein and the basketball program?

The football program has several guys scouting the portal, and multiple times more with connections.

Projecting talent is not an exact science. I'm sure the staff had intel on Collins beyond the scouting reports. Risk vs reward.

If Carney wants to play right away, he will leave either way. I don't think we worry about that. He also knows that he can redshirt next year if he stays this year. So that saves him eligibility for SU or another school in the future.

I am not sure we can beat UNC or BC with Collins.

The big question is the Pitt game and an outside shot at a Bowl. In which case IMO the only potential answer to that question is Carney.

Sink or swim? Rickie is sitting at the bottom of the Mariana Trench. What could Fran possibly see down there in Rickie? There’s no light in the deep ocean.

No, I don't think so. I love how posters will if you Win every week like you are the greatest coach and exclusively responsible for the W, then if you lose you fall off the ship and blame. Definitely somewhere in the middle, you must have a great coach and good players to win. There is definitely a curve without falling off the ledge. You must have depth, we are working. However to crazily accuse someone of actually lying and scamming people... Wow. This board and so many posters are a microcosm of the world and I find very eerily similar to job of a current modern reporter. Utterly disdainful. But that's just my belief and my belief is it is much closer to the truth undeniably than what you wrote. That is why I love what sports can do for you in life more than the actual sport itself. And yes I do believe winning will come as a result of that... In many facets, be well
I think you’re taking my terms too seriously, we know this is sports when it’s all said and done and our fandom is what makes something not serious seem serious. I’m not saying this is a big scam and let’s rally against the coach, hell no. My point is that to this point Fran’s words been pretty on point, and he flubbed this one, we all thought the backup was seriously in contention. I’m just a rabid fan that gets frustrated about my team man, I’m always all cuse but this is the place to vent it out lol
