I am not really bothered by him having us out. That is a judgment call and many see it that way.

But what he has done since Wendesday is stupid.

Before the SU-Pitt game, he had Syracuse as the 4th last team in and Oregon St as the last out. (the Oregon St item was notable)

Syracuse was 4 spots above Oregon St on the s-curve on Wednesday, and is now 6 spots behind them..

  • Syracuse loses to Pitt = Drop of 4 spots on the s-curve
  • Oregon St beats a 5-13 Pac12 team and loses to Cal = Gain of 6 spots on the s-curve.

Arizona St must be the most amazing 5-13 team ever.

yeah it would appear to me the SU/OSU exchange was sort of the key piece of his narrative that SU is out now no matter what - and he's now just going to stick to it, at least until Sunday afternoon.
Like you say, that's just way too much movement between two teams considering the actual game results

Don't you wish you could ask him to justify that on his TV segment, instead of the softball questions the SportCenter anchors toss to him?

As someone said (probably you haha) lunardi changes his bracket game by game. Committe doesnt do that. Theyll look at entire resumes and compare teams. So team A loses, team B wins so team B automatically jumps team A. Not necessarily the case, especially when team A loses to a tourny team (pitt) and team B beats a crap team (asu)

So thats the abc's of it.

Exactly. He needs to keep SU out because he said they are staying out. Right now he has us as the first team out. I'm not so sure he'd have us out still if he didn't say he was keeping us out.

If you don't change it every day, how can you justify starting your bracket 6 months ago?;)

Last night one of the studio guys was discussing Vanderbilt, and said while they are in trouble they are not in "Syracuse" level trouble.

The teams are basically equals -- if the committee chooses Vanderbilt so be it. We deserved that fate. But the fact that ESPN has drew the line, that Syracuse is clearly out, and can't even be compared against a team like Vandy is absurd.

Wasnt he like 67/68 last year?
he actually is like 5/6. thats all it really boils down too. He only has to pick about 6 teams in as the others are tourney winners or no brainer at large teams. This whole bracketology thing is a frarce when guys say "I picked 99% of the teams". Well hell so did a lot of people

He will go 5/6 this year with SU being the one he got wrong.

As someone said earlier -we aren't playing and haven't played for days. It's just easier to say their out let's focus on the games that are on today and how those teams are in. It's ESPN schtick.

Yeah they actually come off like he has some special pipeline to the committee that he knows what they are thinking. He is no different than anyone else. Anyone who really breaks it down is going to be within 4 or 5 teams. Some years will be better than others. Purely coincidental...

Being a 'bracketologist' is the biggest joke. Anybody, and I mean anybody, can spend an hour and put together a bracket just as good, if not better, than guys like Lunardi. It's not that hard.

I believe when the bracket conversation came up about a week ago that Lunardi was rated 35th in the business.

I remember doing these as a teenager before the internet. You'd have to look for the scores and the records in the newspaper...Now that, took talent...
Yep. We'd bang this out during lunch using a shared newspaper, this crazy newfangled one in color...the USA Today. If the rpi was invented, we thought it was just the local college giving us their ranking.

Just look at the top 20, look at all the conf standings and just assume 20-10 in the big east is better than 25-5 in the maac...and voila, a bunch of 14 & 15 year olds picking 62+ of the then 64.

Wait. They had newspapers when you were 14?

;)

20 wins, baby!

I really don't get the Vanderbilt love, they beat Kentucky and A&M at home, and thats it.
