Malachi James transferring to EMU

If I had to guess the Syracuse Medical staff are pushing for him to Medically retire and Frans on board with it and Troy James is telling people that that it's to free up a spot for Toosii, just my guess.
They are currently at 107 players. Guys are getting cut, no way around it.

Not sure the whole Toosii thing being used as the reason here makes any sense. We are going to have more people transfer out almost certainly... are they leaving because of that Toosii spot too? One guy coming on means 10 players lose their spot? I know no details but I'm not sure that makes sense.

In todays world if it was sunny and 85 and going to snow tomorrow most wouldn't know because no one reads the paper or watches the news because all people do is follow twitter now.

The number of times I meet with my work team and no one has any idea that the next day its supposed to storm amazes me.

One thing about this board is there becomes a love affair with certain athletes who aren’t currently major contributors for a variety of reasons (perceived upside, outgoing on social media, etc.) James is definitely one because he’s super fast, he and his dad seems like great people, plus it sounds like he’s been around the tailgate scene and connected with some of you.

That’s all fine and good, but we can’t press that it’s a business when Fran has to fire his best friend, but then get mad or act surprised when he makes a business decision about someone we like.

His best friend was a grown man. This is a college athlete.

lol I saw a lot of running backs do that to a Syracuse defense. He ain't Jawhar Jordan.
Seriously. Our defense was an issue in that I suspect that, even after the Angeli injury, our #1 offense could move the ball against our #1 defense in practice... opposing offenses had some issues with our defense until they figured us out.

Watch the safety in that video. Comical.

Pretty safe bet this is because those type of posts are complete nonsense

Hope the kid does well no matter what he does. I honestly feel he could be a track Olympian. His h.s. Time was 10.16 I think. That’s fast as h. Sounds like they figured out the injury and hoping it was just something they could fix with training. Could be a 9.6 kid or man in a few. Anyone with high end track thoughts about this.
His time is in the ballpark of elite U18 guys. I don't remember if it was wind aided.

I don’t think it was. That was 2 years ago as a sr. Imagine what he could do after he fixes leg. Also I don’t know if they make any money though.

He has amazing straight line speed. Maybe he's not as quick or elusive as other guys. I don't know what was wrong with his leg but when he was a KR he wasn't electric like Tylik Hill. He's probably more of a track guy than a football guy and that's fine. Hopefully he finds a school to run at and maybe play football too. The next RB won't be quite as fast but may be more effective.

Seems Fran goes after a number of big recruits, locks down the local recruits and then hands out a few scholarships based on traits and tries to turn those guys into football players. If they don't demonstrate potential, he'll recruit another class of kids the following year. Not a bad system. We didn't have to beat out Ohio State or Michigan for Malachi James or Ibn McDaniels. Those kids were able to go to school free for two years, get some FBS coaching and maybe they'll shine at a lower level.

I think we also took some flyers on kdis because we where behind on the big recruits for 24 and 25. As you can start to see with 26 Fran now has the longer relationships and we will see the higher end recruits start to come in and have higher rated classes and kids.

Sure Malachi could be a super back in plays where an offense can hold the line of scrimmage, create a hole big enough to give him a head of steam moving into the second level like that highlight. He can take it to the house for sure. But honestly, how many running plays do we have where that is the situation? Maybe a few against Non P4 teams. Another back may only get 20-40 yards on a play like that and that's fine.

But from what I saw of his HS highlights, I didn't see that much wiggle and ability to make things happen in congestion, which is really a lot of what you need in a RB on most plays along with vision. We need a guy who can consistently turn what may be a 2 yard run into 3-5 yds. Or even a loss into 2-3 yds. Hill seems to be a young guy that is more like that and has shown very nice promise. If i was choosing between those backs i'd take Hill.

But I like Malachi and wish him well. Hopefully he gets fully healthy and can excel in track or football.

Malachi was here for 2 years and it appears we let him go. It has to be hard for a player not to take it personal, but Fran has to go with what he thinks are the best odds for the program to succeed moving forward. And its not like Malachi is now going to be out of a college scholarship. He'll at the very least have plenty of other track opportunities with that speed.

sucks we are losing this, wish he stayed healthy though

Watching this is evident our offensive line looks great against our defensive line. We never had holes like that during the season against other teams. James surely has speed. I wonder if there is a medical clearance issue with him.
