Malik Brown Commits baby

This is a great get for the future. Malik is widely considered in Florida to be one of the top players in Palm Beach County and a major prospect.

He's been named to the Georgia-Florida All Star game roster

Here are some other examples of how they view him down south.

Does MB plan to enroll in January? Just curious because I noticed that he was selected to play in the FL-GA all-star game but won't be playing.

There is a picture which shows him signing something, I believe. That would indicate that he signed his letter of intent yesterday, and this period is only for players enrolling in January, IIRC. So, in conclusion, I think he is coming in January, but I don't know anything. :)

A high school player! Sweet. As much as I love all the JUCO's we getting its nice to see a player with full eligibility coming here. Is he a redshirter?

that exchange he had with Gus the other day where Gus told him he was already committed to SU and it would be a great place for him had to help solidify his decision :)

DWYER DE MALIK BROWN COMMITS TO SYRACUSE
by Matt Porter 12-20-2012
Palm Beach Post

Malik Brown had several ACC and Big Ten schools recruiting him through his senior season at Dwyer. They were at his house constantly in the frenzied period following the end of the college football regular season, where college recruiters show up at a top recruit’s door seemingly every waking hour.
Syracuse always made him feel comfortable, which is one of the reasons why he committed to play there Wednesday night.
“It just felt like home away from home, you know?” he said. “I had an amazing bond with coaches and players and plus I have a [lot] of family that lives in New York.”
Brown, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound defensive end, was strongly pursued by Minnesota, who showed up to talk to him just as much as Syracuse. He said the Gophers were one of his final two schools.
He also had offers from Cincinnati, Purdue, Mississippi State and USF. Tennessee came on the scene in December, visiting him at home. Brown said several SEC schools showed interest, but not enough for him to seriously consider playing there. Bethune-Cookman made a late push as well; Brown’s older brother, Mark, plans to transfer there from New Mexico.
At Syracuse, he’ll get to play with a former teammate, Dwyer alum Julian Whigham. The Orange also have a commitment from American Heritage senior tight end Tyler Provo.
Brown, the No. 6 prospect on the PBGametime Big Board, was voted Mr. Gametimeas fans’ choice for Post preseason player of the year.
Brown, who transferred from Palm Beach Gardens after his sophomore season, was the leader of a Dwyer (9-3) defense that allowed 6.83 points and 113 yards per game, both area bests.

PS article says he weighs 230, tos has him much lighter, does anybody know which is right?

if you see any pictures of his senior year. You can tell that he added weight. He looks much thicker in the legs and arms. 215 was his weight at the beginning of his juinor yr.

He just tweeted that Tennessee will be coming to visit him in the next week. Since its a dead period, does this mean he reached out to them?

Dead period? Yeah right...

Butch jones was recruiting him and offered at Cincy. He obviously believes he has more to offer now that he's at Tennessee

Drip . . . Drip . . . . Drip . . . .

tons of programs could have their coach leave any given year, no matter if it is performance or for a better job. Bob Stoops might be the the only major coach I know that will stay put. That shouldn't hamper too much either way WE need him back.

recruits can contact coaches. looks like malik never got rid of jone's number

Allen just tweeted Brown 20 minutes ago for his number, so apparently Zach is working hard to keep this class together.

Glad somebody is.
When Shady left RU the AD worked the phones & talked with every single recruit to reassure them that their scholarships were still on the table.

When PP was fired, no one from SU spoke with Ray Rice. Shady got in there immediatley, showed Ray and his mom love and flipped him to Rutgers. In our case everything is in limbo right now so what do you say? Who is in charge of keeping this class together? Whoever it is must be honest.

I remember talking to Chris White at the time and he and Rippon (I think it was Rippon) tried to stay connected with Rice but the Rice’s started ignoring the Syracuse phone calls.

At the time I was also talking to the LoHud beat writer and he was covering a New Rochelle basketball game one evening in January. He said the Rutgers coaches were there and the Syracuse coaches were there. He told me the Rutgers coaches were sitting with the Rice family while the Syracuse coaches were not. At the end of the game the Rutgers coaches were “all smiles” and the Syracuse coaches walked out of the gym with their tails between their legs. It was over.

When P got canned, Schiano went on the offensive and there was absolutely nothing Syracuse could do.

People forget it wasn’t just Rice either it was also Courtney Green who was at a prep school and committed to Syracuse. Greene would’ve been a 4 year starting safety for us.
