Maliq Brown D.O. Article

maliq and JG3 both made a calculated move whereby a deep NCAA tourney run was likely.
that wasn't ever gonna happen here. neither are going to the NBA. this was their chance.
that said i hope maliq gets some dome minutes tonite in a blowout loss .it'll be interesting to see how he plays and how he's greeted.

I just cannot wait for the day that Maliq runs out of eligibility & Syracusefan.com can move on… haha, I wished the same thing with Kadary, but somehow he’s still playing & we’re not really talking about him anymore ;)

18/11/8/2 in a win vs the #11 team in the country will do that.

Not much to say anymore.

Pretty much everyone is in agreement that Kadary was/is an elite player and Boeheim not doing everything he could to retain him was a horrible mistake. Very different from the Brown situation since he left entirely on his own, not with the head coach essentially showing him the door.

Not true at all. There are receipts from the preseason with people still saying Kadary was lazy and even that Carlos was better than him

“Pretty much everyone”

That's a poster that is known for his "unique" takes, but I know there were others.

He got significantly more money to go to duke than play at Syracuse that’s not a discussion.
Great. How much was it?

It took a few months but we finally got people to say that Leffew got $200K more to go to UGA. What'd Brown get?

I'm not saying he didn't get more money. I want to know how much. Let's be transparent, it's the only way to have a real conversation about this stuff.

It's interesting to me that all of the change was the impetus for him to explore his options but that all of the dysfunction on last year's team was not. I would think you would want to escape the dysfunction or have your coach rectify it. Can't blame someone for wanting to play on a contender.

My favorite Kadary SU moment was that NCAA 2nd round win over WVU when he had to come in the last 2:00 to bring the ball up the court since nobody else on the roster could handle the couch burners pressure.

Or he's being polite.

I feel like multiple things can be right. Maliq leaving for Duke is unquestionably a better decision for him if we wanted to win. Way better roster, gets to play with NBA draft picks, be part of a championship run etc.. It also really sucks for any Syracuse fan confronting the reality that 1. going to Duke is night and day different and better than staying at Syracuse (who we all want to be a blue blood program) when it comes to winning and 2. that we don't have to be thrilled that he did that. I think questioning his character because of this is way too far. We are fans and they are players. Asking them to have the same loyalty as us is a faulty premise.
"Syracuse (who we all want to be a blue blood program) when it comes to winning"
We all do want Syracuse to be a blue blood and upper echelon basketball power, but that ship sailed many years ago. Can't really blame Brown for wanting to be a part of a team that at least has the hope for making the tourney and winning a title. That sure is not us and has not been for a while.
