I don't have anything to back this up but if we beat Wake and lose to UNC and UW wins a few games in the PAC 12 tourney and we get down to 5 teams for 2 spots and 2 of the teams are Syracuse and Washington I could see the committee picking us so they could have the Boeheim vs Hop game in the play in. They love doing crap like that.

If this was offered before the season everyone on the board would have taken it in a minute.
Even if we lost to Washington by 30 the season would be a success.

Agreed. It sounds much better to say you've been in the tournament 2 out of 3 years than missed it 2 out of 3 years regardless of the result.
