Fran could take Sark in a fight. Let’s get em in the octagon!I thought he was referring to coach Sark, his current coach. But I guess it could be his HS coach.

This isn’t true at all. Basketball is likely getting $3-4 million, which is basically the same allotment as other schools. We might be closer to $4 million but that’s not a huge difference. Women’s basketball will get $1 million. And football $15 million. Also the House settlement hasn’t been approved yet, so who knows if the money is even available yet?Guys the NIL is fine, from what I’m hearing it’s the rev share is the issue. SU is allocating millions less to football than its pier schools. The reason? Basketball. Meaning, Football is starting behind and NIL can’t make up the millions other schools have.
What do you mean by this line?Sorry to be argumentative but to say football is only getting $10 - 11MM out of the $20.5MM revenue sharing pool because we are overfunding basketball is simply not true. Not sure where you got that information from or why you choose to believe it, but I can state with first hand knowledge that it is false. Certainly what we will devote from this channel to football is not enough to compete at the top tiers on its own but that’s where NIL and the collectives need to help bridge the gap.
I’ll back out now and let you insist you’re right but I trust others on this forum can easily find the truth.
Yes, look at it this way. All schools have 20.5 to allocate directly to athletic programs. The schools determine which program gets what amount. UConn May decide to spend 16million on hoops 4 million on . The reverse of what you outlined. However, the 20.5 million is a cap on what the school can directly spend. Here’s where the rub comes. NIL watches. No cap on that. If you have 10 mill you can spend additional 10 mill if you have 20 mill you can spend that. That’s wh.

For the House settlement, aren’t all schools that opt in agreeing to devote the same amount of money to direct payments to players?
Look, if SU has to be the cool place to go, get on the field and then you leave to get paid in the SEC and BIG for the last two years, I'm ok with that. We can also be the place where 4 and 5 stars go to play after sitting the bench for two years in the SEC and BIG. You can win with that formula.
I thought the same...not likely but still possible he returnsExactly this. Also, MW (and the like) can go get his Texas sized bag then come back to Cuse next year ala Duce. He's paid, his family is set, he can follow his heart from there.
MW is a stud player but even with his loss we are way ahead on portal dealings.
The interesting/cool thing for me is watching coaches actively try and get walk ons scholarships elsewhere. Montenez can go try and get a scholarship or return back if not for example. I love watching walkons get scholarships and or coaches are working that as well.
He didn't burn bridges... Fran's reaction was priceless hearing the dollar amount. "Why are we talking? you want me to call and tell them you're coming for you?".I thought the same...not likely but still possible he returns
I feel like both Maraad and Fran did everything right in this situation. We were given an opportunity to match, it was a real offer, and Fran felt it wouldn't be fair to the balance of comp on the team. Many of these kids come from economic backgrounds where generational wealth is a pipe dream - it was the right path all the way around under the circumstances. He didn't burn bridges... It's refreshing to haa coach that gets it and puts players best interests above his own.
Happy for the kid to get a big payday. Fran recovered nicely by signing George RooksI feel like both Maraad and Fran did everything right in this situation. I mean that looking holistically at player compensation the amount we will devote from revenue sharing, just because that channel is capped, will not make us financially competitive with the top tier programs. The uncapped third party “NIL” payments will still be a differentiating factor between Syracuse and Georgia..

But my understanding is that part of the House settlement will include the end of NIL as we know it. There will be an NCAA clearinghouse that will determine the legitimacy of NIL deals.I mean that looking holistically at player compensation the amount we will devote from revenue sharing, just because that channel is capped, will not make us financially competitive with the top tier programs. What. How is that possible.Report came out today that Texas is spending roughly 45 million on their roster this year.
$16 million revenue sharing and $30 million from NIL.What. How is that possible.
Well I reread the article. Pro Football Talk said 35-40 million and then said 45 million later in the article. So it’s somewhere in the 35-45 million dollar range.What. How is that possible.
That’s not a selling point i would go with. Who cares if we play a true freshman who excels. You won’t see the real game changing benefits until year 2 or 3Maraad getting a big payday also helps Fran recruit future players by letting them know if they perform well on the field a big payday is waiting for them.
Texas A&M raised 120 Million for their 12th Man Foundation and then fired their coach and will pay him 76 million, there is a lot of money out there among fans of some of the schools around the country and some are willing to part with it in the hopes that their school will have a good team. There will be some disappointed people but hey its only money. I don't believe this is sustainable but at least for a while some of the players will benefit substantially.What. How is that possible.
This is insane. Arch Manning is getting like $6M alone I believe.Edit: Pro Football Talk said Texas is spending 35-40 million on its football roster this year. Then said 45 million later in the article. So Texas is spending somewhere in the 35-45 million dollar range.
Yeah I don't believe that for a second.Edit: Pro Football Talk said Texas is spending 35-40 million on its football roster this year. Then said 45 million later in the article. So Texas is spending somewhere in the 35-45 million dollar range.

Yeah I read his NIL Valuation is $6 million...crazy times we live inThis is insane. Arch Manning is getting like $6M alone I believe.
