Marcus smart staying

I think that Burke's game is really suited for the NBA. He will be very effective in the pick and roll. He didn't play well against a zone but he won't see that in the NBA. Marcus Smart decision is a head scratcher from the standpoint of him being so NBA ready but kudos to the kid for choosing to further his education. CJ must be going through a lot of angst right now, tough decision but if he gets the feedback that he is a second round selection I think he will probably come back.

The goal shouldn't be getting the best rookie contract you can get, the goal should be getting the best career you can get.

So he will probably slip some spots in the draft, and instead of 2 M per year maybe he'll get 1.5 M per year (total guesses). And instead of being picked in the top 5 and landing on a perpetual lottery team, maybe he'll get picked 8-12th and maybe end up on a team that had a bad injury year, or just an off year in general that is usually a playoff team.

The teams that pick at the top of the draft are terrible, and without checking, I feel like most of them pick in the top of the draft every year. If he likes school, he should stay in school, sacrifice some money, maybe end up in a better situation, and work for what really matters, you're 2nd and 3rd NBA contract.

Why does it feel like Syracuse never gets someone to surprisingly come back, but every other school does. I feel like if there is even a chance, our kids are out the door.

You must be a youngster. The original DC could have left high as a junior. Pretty much the poster child of coming back in his day. John Wallace came back when he easily would have been drafted after his junior year. Warrick also came back but he wasn't as projected as high as the first two.

Next up IMO will be DC2. I think he will come back even when he could be drafted. Just be patient, SU's turn will be here again shortly.

Your right, I am of the younger generation. I was born during the Coleman years so besides seeing the play that should not be named, I have only heard how great he was. With that said, I remember vividly the John Wallace years. That year was amazing, and probably my earliest recollection of a Syracuse season. I could tell you where I watched every game during that tournament. It was an awesome ride. With that said, I was talking more about the players lately that have flashed their ability but haven't been that go to star like Coleman, wallace, and warrick. We have seen the flashes from flynn, fab, waiters, and MCW for example, but none of them have stayed long enough to put it all together and dominate. When I look at people like Sullinger, Burke, Okafor, Withey, D. Thomas, Zeller and now smart among others, they come back and dominated for their teams. Im talking First, Second team all americans and some MVPs.

Clev- For players staying I would look for CJ. And for a big time spur I still believe that the next big pleasant surprise potential resides with DC2.

But I don't think you should be hating on the recent picks. This uptick in serious talent is directly correlated to the recent 30 win season average. Plus these NBAers help in turn get more serious talent coming in.
