Oh Joe come on i have my issues with DM but im also on record as being supportive of him. My only true issue was with those who wanted to reward last year with an extension. As to the press conf i have no idea what it pertains to but the fact that Doug is holding a conf this time of the year could mean good news.

Not that I am aware of, and besides that and facilities upgrades or huge donations being made, I hope I hear nothing else.

I want there to be an extension, but not as a reward for 2011. But because it's a formality that has to be addressed for a coach we don't (or at least shouldn't) have an intention to fire at this point. I think if this season goes poorly, you have an honest discussion with him about the buyout included in that extension. No one wants to succeed here more than Marrone, he will obviously want to protect himself and his family, but he's not going to hold the program hostage either.

Pedestrian news timed to get people to re-up their dues, get "excited" for Spring ball and maybe consider buying a football ticket or two.

No one should question Dougs love and passion for Syracuse. I truly believe that if things work out he may end up being our next JB or Ben. My only point is that i believe you reward success and that doesnt always have to be measured in wins. Im a very strong believer in his life program i do however think that Doug is finding his way with todays kids and that his style will evolve. Having said that there is just no way in my book that you give him an extension after the way we finished last season. Depending on how our final schedule looks i would actually provide him with an extension even if we only win 5 games as long as we play hard and look like we are making progress. If however we were to only win 4 or less games or if we looked lost or if the players didnt seem to with the program than you have to question if he is the right guy for the program. I for one truly hopes that he makes solid progress in 2012 and is our coach for many years to come.

OK, low blow. I really SO badly want DM to be the next JB type situation. It's just the cryptic smiley pushed me over the edge; you're hard on him, and to be fair he's deserved most of it.

My guess is announcing coaching changes, some comments on incoming class, and a spiel about buying tickets/supporting the team.
