Marrone to interview w/Giants

I believe that the argument only looks at Time Of Possession. Yes, they were on the field longer. But, did they really need to play a lot more plays? As long as the other team was running a traditional offense then they were also able to substitute... unlike their opposition's D.

Now, if both teams were to run a NHHU offense then it would wear on both defenses.

I am pretty sure that the statistic was number of plays - I'm pretty sure about that but don't know for certain.

The Eagles defense was on the field for the equivalent of three additional games - based on the number of plays run - this past year.

And that has been the case apparently since Kelly took over.

I haven't studied it but that is one of the issues that has been bandied about in Philly.

they were still only 25th in the league in yards per play. if you look at that stat, you don't get thrown off by teams that have more plays in their games. not buying barwin's argument, they were still pretty bad

By the end of the season, the Eagles defense was putrid.

But that was not the case during the first half of the season - the defense was playing pretty well.

The conventional wisdom is that the hurry up offense - the lack of time of possession by the offense - caused the defense to be worn down.

The same thing happened last season when the Eagles started off 9-3 but ended the season badly, losing three straight while winning the final meaningless game against the Giants.

My grammar must have been bad. What I intended to communicate is not that the Eagles know him, but that they anticipate he and the fanbase would be a bad combination.

I think his ability to handle criticism from the public and the press is a legitimate question.

aside from that excellent monster defensive lineman, i don't think they're that talented on defense.

They had trouble at CB this year. And they didn't get an outside pass rush, but at the beginning of the season and for awhile they played well.

By Thanksgiving the defense was non-existent.

Again, I haven't studied it, but in Philly much of the blame is being placed on the hurry up.

Sour grapes. You're a professional athlete, god forbid you have to work a bit harder.
The old players union would have none of any type of Triple option Football

He must have a lot of detractors as well as supporters. He gets interviews, but the competition is fierce, especially from coordinators. I think that if he doesn't get a HC job this year (probably Cleveland is best bet), he could sink to Bolivian.

Coordinators who have never been a HC don't have the media distaste (hatred) Douggie has. An owner has to be willing to overlook that and focus on his turn around record. It will be interesing.

Sweet Jesus, he's turning into Chan Gailey.
If Marrone grows a gray beard next, it will be really obvious.
