Maryland Gameday...

Very impressive win. The biggest positive for me is the defensive play. From the 2nd quarter on, the MD offense struggled to get any penetration. Of course, Spallina was the game changer on the offensive end - I would go so far to say that was his best game in his college career because he was up against a top team and strong defense. Hottle is a great weapon - speed kills.

McCool shouldn't leave the crease. Wonder how his knees are going to feel in the morning. He took a pretty awkward spill but had to shake it off.

And it seems Father Time is catching up with Spanos. Guy really doesn't move well, no wonder with his injury history.

Did Leo or Lyons have a shot? I've seen those guys tear it up for Yale, unless I'd known they'd transferred to MD, I would not have realized they were on the field. Both seemed MIA.

I think Cuse played really well up and down the field, but MD just didn't seem so great. As I wrote, Leo and Lyons seemed MIA, I'm not sure Spanos is a #1 at MD, and a few nice goals from 44 aren't the makings of a #1 team.

Could have been an off game, but they don't seem to have a guy who can really carry them.

I don't know if they are a great team this year, probably not but I wouldn't count them out. They scored 19 last week against a supposedly improved Loyola team, but they clearly have some things to figure out on that end of the field. Ruppel looked mostly ok but replacing an all time great goalie is not easy.

I am extremely happy boys!!! Electric electric dynamite win. Big credit to John O and the defense. The new faces were excellent!!! Kittelberger and Bowen both had phenomenal games! Jake Spallina and Ochoa held their own too! And how about Filardi putting the clamps on guys 1v1 in his first serious action! Having kittenberger Hahn and Filardi doing what they did as freshman is so huge. All recruited entirely by the current staff. The future is just as bright as the present!

They're definitely a good team. That fogo and middie group alone is worth 10+ wins.

Spanos and Erksa can run hot and cold, thas the big O concern for them. Lyons and Johnson are both very good but are used to playing with an elite feeder/scorer, not sure Maryland has that but they'll still put up massive #s. They're also very deep at middie and they'll likely make some changes at personnel as the season goes on
