McCord

And yet he isn’t talked about as one of the top qbs in the nation.

Quite amazing really
He‘s not a plus athlete. And his production is a function of volume. He’s got a very good arm, but it’s not elite.

He’s a third day pick and needs to go to the right situation. Maybe he’s Brock Purdy.

I love watching Kyle pre-snap. He's so calm and in control, moving guys around like it's practice.
The time of possession stat is crazy with how much we throw but Kyle knows to let his guys get set and a breather.

Shrader was the opposite and didn't really have much composure and would snap it quickly even if he was gassed from running it 30 yards. Devito had the same lack of awareness. Dungey was somewhat the same but it was intentional to try and snap before the D was set of possible.

Now that said there have been a couple of games this year the opponent has timed our snaps and the DE is in the backfield before Kyle gets the ball every play.

He can beat out any teams backup for a 53 man roster spot. Has to hope it's not someone like KC that drafts him.

QBs are expected to run these days in the NFL so he's not going to get any 1st round buzz like he typically would for simply being really good and accurate.

Probably a prospect similar to Rattler got scooped quick mid rounds when all the top guys at each position were gone and a legit backups better than guessing. 4th round maybe late 3rd is my guess.

It rather risky, but he really hasn’t taken a whole lotta hits this year. He gets rid of the ball so quickly.

But is ann elite passer. He’s remarkably accurate, can throw in to very tight windows. He’s outstanding at reading the defense and getting the ball out quickly. To me that is the skill set most important to playing the position. I have t seen anyone better at the college level

Fran just said on his show that he's excited to see McCord play in the bowl game. Hmmmm.
Millhouse said earlier this year that, and this was when we were behind in a game, that McCord had some decisions to make. That he might sit out the rest of the season if things went south. I have been thinking that it is above 50-50 that he would play in the bowl game. His relationship with the coach a big part of that.

YES!
Our new QB will be brought in from the portal. The need is for a QB with experience, is very good but sitting, going though a coaching change or is dissatisfied with the coach or playing time.

We'll know soon as the portal opens Dec. 9 and closes the 28th.

He probably has more of a chance getting hurt playing in SR bowl with a matched oline and Guys trying to show that can rush the passer than in a bowl game within our system.

Now we know why HS QB's who have the elite arm talent that McCord does get rated so high. Then it's up to you to develop him. I think Day did him a dis-service, and Fran empowering him, and building his confidence is exactly what he needed. If we get to experience a QB who can make the throws Kyle can any time in the next 20 years we'll be in a good place. Saying he will be tough to replace is an understatement. Absolutely special season.
Days problem is that he was blessed with hitting the jackpot for 10yrs+ straight (Barrett, Haskins, Fields, Stroud). I think Kyle received exceptional coaching, but at the end of the day it didn’t fit his style. Day is a harda$$ and Kyle needed encouragement to lock in his confidence, like you mentioned.

I don’t personally think anyone lost in the scenario. Kyle developed under Day and sought out a situation where he didn’t have to worry about his job with a mistake and flourished. Everyone won in this situation I believe and we were fortunate that Brown understood what Kyle needed as soon as his name hit the portal.

Kyle was a lotto ticket. We could just as simply end up with DJU at QB. Not all portals are saviors. It’s 50/50 at best that we can upgrade the position in the portal this season.

No, I am pretty sure any coach worth his shyt would evaluate DJU as complete ass.

Well there was a bidding war for him and lots of dollars being tossed at him. In hindsight a waste, but there were many chasing.

My comment remains true. I am not a coach and I wouldn't give DJU the time of day. He looks like an awesome QB, but he lacks the skillset.

Quoted for truth. You don't see that stuff on TV but in person it just looks effortless. Dude knows the game.
