Watched the game from section 302 today and wanted to jump. Chuck comes out in press coverage leaving our corners on an Island and im screaming What. It is beyond me its like he has some macho dilusions about our talent at corner. I mean are you kidding me. Keep everything in front of us and make them earn it. Not as bad as GT but a very close second. Has to be one of the worst coaching jobs out of the box that i have seen in a very long time. As to cool kid he is like a kid with too many choices. If you watched the game it was obvious that we destroyed them up front between the tackles. We could have run the ball all day without passing and destroyed this team. 3-5 a crack between the pipes. They simply couldnt stop us. Other What moments Why take our Adonis at the goal line and replace him with PTG as a lead blocker. I mean what the hell is he thinking. The guy cant dance he lacks rythm as an OC and it shows. OK bring it on 590 yards big deal he just isnt clutch and has no feel for the game. Last point for now. Does anyone look at the clock and realize that we HAVE to go for it on fourth down with 9 minutes left. Just do the math. 3 scores. Last point Norton has to go. What a ball breaker before the half. this game we have way more talent than these guys but the coaches blew it. Hunt was so off on his passing that to not cram the ball down their throats is beyond me and lets play press against to NFL recievers. Brilliant.

I agree with you on Norton and the part about going for it,the rest is debatable. Game changed on pick 6

Do you think that the bad case of dropsy had anything to do with it? How many drops? 10? 12? Both offense and defense.Oh Lord

On TV it looked as if the plays that killed us were on zones where the receivers were wide open in the middle. I know crossing routes are man killers but there wa nobody even close so I assumed it was zone.

McDonald was ok except for the stupid bubble call to Phillips, which was clearly a call, not a read. He should scrap the Custis/Lewis screens and run more read option with Hunt. Would also like to know what red zone plays we have other than a Hunt run.

Still waiting to see this explosive, uptempo offense he promised.

you don't think Shaffer has any input in the game plan? Whatever Chuck and McDonald say goes? When does Shaffer get blame? Its his team not the coordinators team.

Man, it sure as hell looked like that to me, too!

I agree with this. It looked like the wide open M receivers early were a result of them doing a good job against a zone. The first TD, Reddish had pretty good coverage, but the pass was excellent.

On offense I counted 3 legit should have been caught drops. I can't get on Crume a DT for dropping an INT. The biggest problem on offense, besides some play calling, was Hunt had his worst game in a long time. 8 or so real bad passes. Too high or behind a receiver. He really struggled hitting Estime who he over threw 3 times.

You would think, if Shafer had any sense of self-preservation, that he would realize these two dodos are going to get him fired.

shafer isn't getting fired anytime soon unless the team drops back to grob level .

Coaching mistakes, stupid penalties, ill-timed turnovers, and 2 big plays did us in.

But not one thing was worth firing anyone.

There are things in this game that portend well for next week - but I'll let the board stew and bring them up Wednesday or so.

Maybe Estime is just too darn fast?

That's why the balls are always behind him.

and the blocked punt for TD. And the 90 yard bubble screen TD. Our guys gave up 3 different backbreaking plays. There were others, too, much those were momentum killers.

Yes, 2 drops on the first drive that ended in the FG. It's probably tough making the adjustment on throws where the one receiver, Estime, is 5 to 7 inches shorter than all the others, especially on passes over the middle.

In fairness, the two MD receivers will play on Sunday but we knew that going in. I thought the D adjusted and played much better in the second half but the damage was done. On the first long TD Whigs actually had good coverage on Leaks (82) it was just an absolutely perfect thrown by Brown. One inch left or right and he might have made the play.

I still think this one is on the offense.

1st and goal throw a pick six (instead of 24-20 or 24-17, it's 31-13)

1st and goal punch in a TD called back because of a real ticky tack hold. Then miss the fg.

Give up a bad block punt results in more Maryland points. (7)

Hunt fumble results in 3 more points for them.

Hunt was just aweful today without that.

But how many points did we give AND leave on the field? the coaches didn't lose this game, huge back breaking plays did us in. Otherwise we moved the ball consistently and did a prett good job defensively.

agreed completely we actually had a very nice offensive game the penalties killed us that hunt td run only to be overturned by a penalty was heartbreaking and couldve been a real momentum changer ... one thing is very clear ryan norton needs to go! put cole murphy in couldve been a completley different game if he made all those field goals i mean missing 22 yarder in a dome is unacceptable

I actually feel a lot better about the season after this game than I did after the Villanova game. We played a peer level team that we had every opportunity to beat.

The pick 6 alone was a 10 to 14 pt swing. A missed 25 yard FG in the dome? We give up a 90 yard TD run when run d is our strength? 2 consecutive holding calls on first and goal? Just too much fluky and self inflicted crap to overcome.

I really don't even care that Whigham got burned on the first TD - we knew going in that it was highly unlikely that we were going to shut their receiving core out.

Hunt sailing a lot of passes, receivers dropping a number, gave them 10 points off turnovers - and we still only lost by 2 TDs.

Calling out the coordinators in a game like this is just silly.

The one that really hurt was the drop by Broyld on the first series. He had NOT ONE defender in front of him. He catches that ball, and it's a quick run for six. We have momentum, and things are looking good. To not score a TD on that first drive was a sin.

Since I was at the game, what the hell happened on the pick six? From my view the WR ran the wrong route and confused Hunt. Looked like he was going to play short and then went long. By the time he turned, the UMD defender was heading the other way. Was that Hunt's fault or the WR?

Seems like he also had some checkdowns to RBs that would've gained some yardage but instead tried to force into tight coverage.
