I know the kid isn't strong enough yet and I know that we have three other guards but this kid is going to make everyone around him so much better...

We are going to a final four with MCdubs, maybe two...

MCW is going to be great. I can't wait until we start putting unreal expectations on him.

Er, wait...

Nah, this kid is a lock for two time MOP of the final four... I just hope he sticks around after he wins it next year.

I smell a Paul Harris reference coming...

or maybe I smell deuces...

MCW once drank TWO gallons of milk in an hour. Actually it was 47 minutes, but who's counting.

Like I said he's the best player on this team right now. The not strong enough thing is comical. He was dominating the UCON guards. He understands the game so well

Let's not sell him short. He's the best college point guard of the ESPN era. If JB would turn him loose these games would be over at halftime.

So he can leave after this year and get drafted in the first round? I think you meant to say he has the most potential in your opinion, not that he is the best player. If he was, JB would see that and he'd be getting 30+mpg.

No I meant he's the best player on this team right now. I wonder if JB doesn't play him just to keep him out of the NBA. Without him next year wouldn't go so well

I wouldn't say he's the best player on the team, but I honestly think he might be the most well-rounded guard on the team. All the other guards have one or two things that they excel in; Waiters penetration and defense, Scoop ball-handling and passing, Triche shooting and hustle plays. MCW is just solid at everything. 2nd best passer, 2nd best shooter, 2nd or 3rd in penetration, 2nd in defense, etc.

And that guy is right that MCW has such a great feel for the game. It's really refreshing to see from a freshman.

One comment, defense. Dion is not that good of a defender. What he is, is good at getting steals. But he is often in the wrong place or takes chances trying to make a steal on a player going by him and losing his man, etc. Triche is easily our best defender. As to MCW he is up and down and is sometimes better than Dion and sometimes worse. The only clear thing to me is that Triche is the best and Scoop is the worst. Sometimes I don;t think Scoop even makes much of an effort.

I dont think MCW's strength is a real reason for him not to play. He isnt a guy whose game requires alot of strenght. he's a finesse guy and although getting stronger will help him, lack of it does not make him unable to solidly contribute right now.

What do the doubters think MCW is lacking vs th other guards? I would say nothing other than he's a freshman. When he plays he simply standsout. There's not much else to say. His talent simply is extremely obvious. He does have the most complete game of the guards. Why he doesn't play more doesn't make sense to me

He's played very well at times in limited minutes and is certainly talented, but to think his weaknesses and inexperience wouldn't be exposed if he were to play big minutes in high leverage situations in the Big East is pretty naive. In case you haven't noticed, there are three very talented and experienced guards playing in front of him, and some nights there aren't enough minutes to go around for them. MCW's time will come, but it won't be this season.

Ya you're right inexperience never gets you a national championship...um oh wait it did get SU one. What were you thinking?

The not strong enough thing is comical.

I was going to respond to this but after reading the rest of your posts in this thread, especially the one about Boeheim not playing him so he won't go to the NBA, I am not going to bother.

I am just going to fold. You win. You are right.

MCW is very up and down when it comes to defense. Sometimes he plays really well, other times he is horrible. JB wants consistency from him. hopefully it is there by next year. The team will need that.

MCW reminds me of Magic the way he sees the court and dribbles the ball. I by no means am saying he's as good but the court vision he has reminds me of magics game and the back to defender dribble. I still would like to see him get faster with the ball at times but that will come with more playing time. The kid knows the game and once he shows us a little crossover to the hoop I'll be more than pleased with his development. I have no problem handing him the pg reins next year.

The team has had good minutes with MCW paired with Dion. He plays defense and he makes assists.
Definitely think it wouldn't hurt to give him more minutes, if not for the fact that -- yesterday -- BT was having a strong all-around game. Simple fact -- we have veteran guards who are ahead of him.

As to strength, MCW is strong enough on defense. When he has the ball, though, the defenders tend to body him so he can't penetrate with his dribble. Next year, he will be a better shooter, and a tad stronger.
