Wow. Bad post.

Reminds me of my freshman year in college. I played some hoops and lacrosse for a D3 school. During my first game on the freshman hoops team, I was getting my share of pine slivers. My roommate and a contingent if friends in the lax team showed up. They started chanting hammer screw nail wrench, get Swisher off the bunch. Instead of telling them to get a grip, coach Dailey just laughed.

Lets all keep in mind that this was a game against a 16 seed...a mid-major...and an All-American didnt get into the game.

WHo do you fault?

The players in front of him that didnt get the job done? The coach that made this game closer than it needed to be? Who?

NC State played 8 against them.
UNC played 15!!
UConn played 9.

We are supposed to be one of the deepest teams in the country and we played 8...

:noidea: :noidea:

every team on the run to a national title has a close game against a inferior team. Com mon did any of you at halftime seriously think we were going to lose

No team on a run to a national title played like that vs a #16.

Triche is like that guy who is brought in to manage a division at your company. He had no experience..no great pedigree...but year after year.. there he is, being fairly average, not saying anything on conference calls, not doing anything of note (outside of not rocking the boat). Occasionally he makes awkward decisions where you scratch your head... and is mostly invisible otherwise. At all company functions, everyone talks about "how does he keep his job? What has he done to deserve it?"

I know these thoughts must roll through MCW's head..

could you show pic of her ass..thanks. Dont know why MCW didnt get a few minutes today and mentioned that on chat. I do not think that Scoop played well...Triche a tad better...but MCW should have had a shot.

I hate to say this, but whatever. It's not the time to be making a statement, it's the time to play players who should be playing. MCW should have gotten some time.

This team looked friggin' awful today. So sad this season looks to be coming to a disastrous end.
MCW needs to mature and the tweet is just more proof of that. Can anyone say with certainty this hothead wouldn't have let one of UNCAs senior get under his skin? He's gone after JB before. MCW needs to grow up and understand his role. He'll get his time but that time is not now. Grow up.

Do you really think this game went as JB had envisioned? JB probably wanted to give MCW time. But SU got in a hole in the 1st half. JB's primary goal was to win, not develop MCW. As the 4th guard MCW is being groomed for next year. In a close game JB is going with experience and people he trusts. He has turned to these people all season long during some tight games. And now people on here wanted JB to mix it up in the NCAAT? JB went with what had worked boatloads of times this season. And you know what, it worked again. May not have been pretty but they came away with the W.

What if he put MCW in and SU lost? Many of the same back seat drivers here would be calling for JB to be fired.

The kid's probably wrong to air his grievances in a public forum like this, but Boeheim's reversion to the short bench is really indefensible. Scoop played a mediocre game, forcing a horrid three and making a couple ugly turnovers. Triche was kind of invisible. Dion scored some points, but had maybe the dumbest game of his young career and gave a lot of those points back. Carter-Williams should have gotten some minutes.

Honestly, there are players on this team who go out and make idiotic decisions and play with minimal effort; a freshman can be forgiven for being miffed at not getting the chance to play over those guys.

So now we are calling MCW a hothead based on one tweet? All I've seen is a kid who is as into every game as anyone else on the bench, and based on every single other one of his tweets, seems to love his teammates. Of course he wants to play, but let's not act like he'd have some breakdown on the court based on one tweet that may very well have been a poorly conceived joke.

The things is that his playing pattern makes no freakin' sense. He doesn't play for 3 games, then gets a little run against UConn and Louisville and looks very good. So of course then he goes back go the pine for 2 games. JB has his reasons, but they're totally lost on me.

I agree with a lot of this. But I think the highlighted portion is a little misleading. Surely the short bench worked a lot this year - we've only lost twice. But it's really a departure from the practice that had us playing our best basketball - getting minutes for all ten regulars and sitting guys when they're tired or playing poorly.

I don't know all of JBs reasons. I, too, thought the team looked good when all 4 guards got time. It seemed to bring more energy.

But if it meant losing this game, in my mind, it would not have been even close to worth it.

I don't know if JB will be able to break out of it now though. All these games have got to feel very pressurized for him. To now try and loosen up and trust another player may be too much to ask. Especially w KState and their pressure D on the guards. That looks to be a weakness of MCWs so I don't expect to see much time for him.

MCW needs to be patient. His time will come. And if he can handle this situation properly it can help him be looked up to later when it becomes his team.

the only player busting his ass all game was Xmas and none of the three guards would even look at him... meanwhile the only guard ever willing to feed the post was on the bench.

Thank god. Are you kidding me? Christmas was consistently out of position on both sides of the ball. There were several instances where the guards [and others] tried to feed the post, mostly with disastrous results.

No thanks. Christmas should only be touching the ball in our offensive sets on offensive rebounds or penetrations that set him up [like that Scoop dish in the second half].

watch the game next time. not a single dish to the post. do you know where the post is?

Apparently, better than you do. I suggest you follow your own advice. I've watched out game twice, and there were easily several pass attempts into the post in the first five minutes of the game. One resulted in a Christmas dunk [the first one], the other several were turnovers--which is why the team stopped forcing the ball inside.

Again, no thanks. And I suggest you learn what you're talking about before you criticize an accurate observation.

Just another incident that shows the lack of team. That's on the coach. MCW should play especially when Scoop plays like he's in the NBA. The senior leadership is missing and wishing it into place doesn't work. Play the freshman and maybe Scoop will come back to earth for a little while at least.

I agree that I enjoyed watching the earlier waves of players. It did seem like they played with more energy.

I don't know if we'll be able to see it now though. Against pressure D on the guards bringing up the ball - like LVille or Marq - JB has not played MCW. I would like to see JB change it.

I wish he would. At least in the first half. Lets see if MCW can handle it. From what I have seen he was able to do it against UConn. And one of the benefits to KState from doing the pressure is the wear and tear on the energy of the guards. If SU were to go deeper the toll on our guards would be minimized.

Excellent points all. Finally, a reasoned analysis and not another MCW fanboy post.

Frankly, I'm a bit surprised that a kid who will likely be getting 30 minutes per game next year is having so much trouble staying focused in the NCAAT. Given an injury or foul trouble he could find himself playing critical minutes at any time.

I think JB gets tense late in the season and falls back on the veterans, unless he has no choice. We definitely played our best ball early in the year when we played more guys.

"I might get a shirt that says free MCW."

You know what MCW, get a %^^&*&^* grip. Seriously You have a free scholarship, free education, fringe benefits, any girl u want and u whine for not playing? TOO ^&&** bad. Kris did not play as a freshman, same with scoop, rautins, arinze, to name a few. So move on. Support the team. The future is yours, and stop acting like some members of r fan base!!!!!!

The only difference between him and the Wright bros. is the bad influence of an upperclassmen like Billy Edelin.

I think this is probably a joke, but I don't know that I agree.

By all accounts, MCW is a very good kid and a good student. He's feeling anxious about PT--not surprising, as he's a McDonald's All American playing on a veteran laden team.

The only difference--and I mean the only one--between stuff like what MCW tweeted and the team 10 or 20 years ago is that we weren't privvy to every single thought via social media that players were having 10 or 20 years ago.

This is a total non-issue in my mind.

I agree that we won't - and probably shouldn't - see the kid against pressure defenses. My two concerns about Carter-Williams are his shaky handle against good defense and his sometimes distracted defense (especially in transition).

But, as you said, he ought to see some time in the first half - especially if our starting guards are going to contribute to digging us a seven-point hole. If they're all stinking it up, throw the young guy in there for a bit. It's unlikely he'll be worse than everyone else. If he is, we've still got 20 minutes to claw back into it.

The best part, as you noted, is that any extra minutes from a sub will result in fewer minutes played by the starters. And I think everyone is in agreement that our starters will be more effective over 30 minutes than they will over 37.
