Retire the jersey.

Assuming this was a facetious comment, but in the age of one-and-done players, not sure you can get a resume much better than MCW's:

- 2nd most assists ever in a season in SU History (292 assists, 2nd only to Sherm's 326)
- most steals ever in a season in SU History (111 steals, 2nd most is only 101 from James Thues & Jason Hart)

- 6th highest assist avg in a season in SU History (7.2 per game)
- tied for 2nd highest steal avg in a season in SU History (2.8 per game, 2nd to only Jason Hart's 3.1)
- one of best rebounding guards in SU History
- lead team (best player on team) to only 5th Final Four in program history
- also member of team that went to Elite Eight

Obviously doesn't have the longevity, but not many players will have that in today's college basketball environment. I wouldn't be opposed to MCW (one day) having a jersey in the rafters.

Edit: One more interesting comparison:

MCW's 2013 NCAA Tournament Averages:

35.4 MPG, 10.8 PPG, 444% FG (20-45), 4.2 APG, 5.6 RPG, 3.0 SPG, 0.4 BPG, 2.8 TPG

Carmelo's 2003 NCAA Tournament Averages:

36.3 MPG, 20.2 PPG, 475% FG (47-99), 2.5 APG, 9.8 RPG, 1.8 SPG, 0.7 BPG, 2.5 TPG

What school has had the most ROY's?
Where does SU rank with 3?

The answers follow

Damien Lillard Weber State University
Kyrie Irving Duke
...

UNC(5)
Syracuse (3)
Duke (3)

Wow, am I reading this right that Kansas has only had one ROY and Kentucky has never had one?? That is amazing. If not for a once in a generation player in LeBron, it seems like we could have 4. That is shocking given how we seem to struggle with players doing outstanding in the NBA.

Melo should have won it.

If he was ROY this year just imagined if he stayed another 2 years at Syracuse. He would have been POY

MCW- 16.7 pts 6.3 assists 6.2 rebounds votes: 104(1st) 15(2nd) 4(3rd)

Oladipo- 13.8 pts 4.1 assists 4.1 rebounds votes: 16(1st) 89(2nd) 17(3rd)

Burke- 12.8 pts 5.7 assists 3 rebounds votes: 1(1st) 13(2nd) 52(3rd)

Plumlee- 7.4 pts 4.4 rebounds 1 block votes: 2(1st) 5(2nd) 33(3rd)

Hardaway- 10.2 pts 1 assist 1.5 rebounds votes: 1(1st) 2(2nd) 12(3rd)

Can't see how MCW wasn't unanimous. He led all rookies in scoring, rebounds, steals, assists, double doubles and triple doubles. This is why I don't think the media should be involved with voting. If so then they better be able to support their decision.

How did Plumlee get 2 votes for 1st place? Or even any for 2nd or 3rd?

Not saying that he should have got any first place votes, but he played very well for the Nets in the 2nd half of the season.

Yes. He was very good for them down the stretch, so I can see those who took the Bill Simmons view of not voting for a guy on a tanking team approach giving him their 1st place votes.

2 pts 2 rebs per game for the year?

Edit: looks like those stats above are wrong.
