It doesn’t make any sense because by all accounts that’s not what he was around growing up. Was in a middle class family and went to a private school. It's getting more and more difficult to battle a culture that views guns as "cool" rather than a deadly weapon intended for self protection and hunting. We don't take them seriously enough.

ESPN, NYT, USA Today, Fox News, CNN, etc. etc. At this point in time, that is how these issues are solved, via public scrutiny. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter why he has a gun, I haven't been able to find out where the video was shot, it might be that he has a legal carry permit and that so long as his finger isn't on the trigger it is not illegal to remove it from the holster. The public is voicing their distaste, but almost nothing can be done if the gun is legally owned and a brandishing a weapon charge isn't pressed. Ja Morant has shown himself to be immature, but you cannot charge someone for being stupid/immature.

Yeah, and I don't think anyone has suggested he can't have a gun, but waving it around like it's an accessory to show off is not giving it the respect it demands. Keep the thing put away unless someone threatens your life or someone else's.
