The Knuts are a total mis-managed mess. I do not see why Melo would want to stay there. Even if he wants a supermax deal - he should tell the Knicks he is leaving & give them a list of teams he would find acceptable. Melo is in a position to force a trade & still get supermax $$$ with his new team if he chooses.

The Knicks will have 2015 cap room to attract a 2nd superstar, but unless that superstar's initials are LBJ it won't be enough. There would be no extra $$ to add a respectable supporting cast.

The Knuts need to stop taking shortcuts - it simply doesn't work. I hear rumors of Melo to the Clips for Griffin & maybe a #1. That deal makes sense to me. Melo gets to play w Paul & he is an upgrade over Griffin. The Knicks get a downgrade, but Griffin is around 5 years younger than Melo & it would be a start to changing the mentality from shortcuts to accumulating solid young players through the draft or otherwise. Hardaway looks like a keeper & Shump has been disappointing, but should be able to fetch them at least a #1 pick. Then they at least have a core of Griffin, Hardaway, & a couple of #1's plus I would keep Chandler if I were them. That would position them not as a good team, but at least as a team on the rise. I think they also still have their 2015 pick, and with a weak team that would get them into the lottery where they could hopefully draft another star.

I would really enjoy seeing him play on the Clippers with Chris Paul. That would be a great chance to win. They have a solid group of ballers on that team.

If you think Shumpert is worth a #1 pick, you could be GM for the Knicks.

Maybe it's me but I equate Melo to Allen Iverson. A great talent but some headaches to go along with the talent. I'm sure some teams will want Melo but if I was a GM I'm not so sure I pull that trigger.

I'm hoping Melo ends up with either the Magic or Jazz - teams with cap room and young talent that could be elevated by a legit star. I know it won't happen though.

And Chandler, wouldn't keep him. If it was 5 years ago yes, not now. His body is gone. Same with Stoudamire, its like comparing 1996 Grant Hill with 2009 Grant Hill.

Anthony to the clippers.

Nothing substantial will change as long as Dolan owns the team.
Oh, they may get new pklayers.
But they won't win.

And, honestly. Melo is part of the problem.
He's not getting it done when games are on the line.

I'd like to see similar stats from 2011 forward tr compare to this. That was always Melo's strong point his early year in the league, game winning shots. He was ahead of Lebron by far, deep into both's careers.

I'm pretty sure I saw some stats that Melo has done terribly in those situations the last few years, but I don't remember the source

He should go to LA for one season, win a title with Kobe, Nash and Gasol, and then move to Philly and help MCW.
Philly would be a gamble, but next year, MCW, Melo, A Lottery Pick, Whoever they get for Turner, Philly may have a nice team.

Come back to Denver Melo. We need you! badly...

Yeah that was his biggest mistake. Denver was a yr away from cap room to improve that team as well as nearing karls retirement.

This^^^^^

During our lifetimes MSG has been refered to as the "Mecca" of basketball yet they only won a Championship twice, one in 1970 and one in 1973. That's 40 years!

It's really pathetic that the Knicks haven't been able to put a winning team on the court in what has become a generation. It's not because there hasn't been talent either. It's because there hasn't been the right blend of talent and a sustained commitment to do what it takes to put a winning club together. Bringing Melo to New York without assembling a good and STABLE supporting cast around him was more of a publicity stunt than it was an attempt at putting a team that could win a Championship on the floor. New York basketball fans deserve better than what they've been provided to root for and if they are not going to commit to putting a team around Melo that has a real chance to win they'd be best to let him go and begin to plan for the future.

Even the Celtics were able to assemble a team which could win a title after they had slid into oblivion post Bird/ McHale and the tragic loss of Len Bias. It seemed totally hopeless in Boston and they still were able to put some talent around Paul Pierce after years of him going it essentially alone. The Knicks are a complete mess and it's enough to turn lifelong Knick fans away from the franchise that they've been loyal to all their lives. I can't stand it anymore.

They have the Pelicans pick as well.

Stay or leave, it'll be a shame that he wasted years in his prime. He had to know they were a mess when he went there, the rest of the basketball world knew it. Maybe his next move will be driven by basketball instead of media market size.

Well as much as i dislike memes(even the word), Melo has added an accomplishment to his list after mocking a fan: maybe the first meme of 2014

glazed donut face (a$$). Not sure if this has been covered on here yet or not:

Maybe my favorite Melo moment ever bahahaha.

All this commotion aaaaand the Knicks go out and beat the Spurs. Go figure...

Maybe he can work a trade to go back to Denver and team up with a 2014 top 3 pick.

LOL Knicks.

And the Nets beat OKC. What are the odds that both New York teams would win.

I think I read somewhere that if you put $100 on the Knicks and Nets winning last night, it would give you back $1,800.

The Knicks win is more impressive though, homerism aside, the Spurs are completely healthy and played very well. The Knicks had to earn that one.

OKC is a glorified NY Knicks team without Westbrook. Durant plays the Melo role and he has better role players but its the same type of limited team that wont make it past the second round unless Westbrook is healthy.

Last night showed how desperately NY needs that second scorer. Everyone played their normal games, Udrih got major minutes and sucked most of it. Amare got major minutes and was his usual -100000 self, JR is JR but has been more solid lately, Melo did his thing and the only difference was Shump stepping up.
