Good point. "Try harder" is not a strategy. Instead, it usually indicates that the leader has completely run out of ideas for how to improve.

Does anyone know if Red still does his call in show with Matt Park? JB used to do it once a week, and the great SWC would always call in and ask questions and write up what JB said. Do you know how or where you can listen to it? Anywhere online? I don’t live in the area. Another thing we miss from the dearly departed SWC.

Just finished a rewatch. First half was mostly business as usual. 39-23 is about expected. Holding them to 23 is fine and we missed a lot of easy shots but still had 39. We weren’t playing hard. Almost too nice to them, we were literally picking their guys up off the ground all game and chitchatting with the refs.

The substitution patterns were really bad though early on but at the same time we played 10 guys. Not the end of the world to shake some rust off the deep bench. Suare, Luke, Betsy and Zephyr weren’t ready to play and it showed.

Can tell that the 10 man rotations are killing George and Kingz the most. Kingz was off his game on both ends being up and down off the bench so much. George obviously with the turnovers and is lost when he’s supposed to run an offense with combos of luke, Zephyr, sadiq, Suare and Kiyan out there.

2nd half we didn’t take care of the ball and made the wrong decisions in the half court constantly. I don’t know why we are so obsessed with trying to get highlight reel dunks for Sadiq or Kiyan with his iso stuff, if it doesn’t work the first time it’s like we’re just stubborn and we try the same thing over and over again until they score. Or cross court passes to what would be a low % 3 anyway.only thing Kyle was guilty of not just taking it to the rim more and not calling for the ball. He was happy just to be a vacuum cleaner at the rim.

Worst lineup we have is a combo of George, Kingz, Kiyan/Sadiq/Betsey and Suare. It’s a sloppy mess of bad decisions. It’s the playground, defensively not terrible but when they miss so badly with their shot or turn it over it was an automatic bucket the other way.

George and Kingz are deferring to Kiyan/Sadiq/Betsey to just call their own shot or do something stupid. They gotta be leaders.

Thanks for sharing. Red is just awful. Talks about needing to “make shots,” take care of the basketball and making free throws. Such banal generalities and inane coach speak. His big boast is that we get to the free throw line a lot. Ok, that’s good and improved from last year. But he doesn’t address the lack of movement, lack of off ball screens, the lack of cutting, and the failure to consistently run sets every time down the floor. Guys just stand around on the perimeter far too often, and Red defends it as “spacing.” You have to have spacing AND movement! How does he not hear the criticisms about the offense from all corners? He seems willfully ignorant. I wanna call into his show after the holiday break with a pointed question about the bad offense.
