Miami opens -14.5 over SU

Yea, playing the contrarian here, but Washington State upends USC in Pullman, then loses 37-3 at Cal. Same script if we are not ready. Big home win, road loss.

This will be a test for Dino, to get everyone grounded, to eschew the adulation and (re)embrace the process. I'm equal parts hopeful and skeptical we will be able to do this.

Kansas sucking is obv. built into the spread & Iowa St covered with ease.
WSU game was so weird. They had 2 weeks off & probably shoulda been up at half but kept turning it over & eventually just quit.
But ya it's a reasonable concern for a team that hasn't had to deal with much success.

Nice to have the extra day of rest this week because we played on Friday.
Agreed. I just hope that some of the players that went down early in the game are active for Saturday. I think we're going to need a full roster of players to pull the second biggest upset in college football this year.

I guess the team watched film and lifted today and get a day off tomorrow.

Back at it on Tuesday

Mark Walton going down for them is huge for us. This game is winnable, but we absolutely can't come out flat.

They are all winnable and sadly other than BC - i think we could lose them all too. IF we play well and don't turn it over, we are in all these games mainly because our D gives us a chance. The fact that we don't have to score every time we have the ball is helping the offensive effort.

Was just looking on ESPN and it says it up to -16 now.

EVERYONE is thinking that Cuse gets ran off the field in a classic "letdown" game.

My orange prescription says we win on the field again. Go pound salt, Convicts!

I hope the canes don’t pound salt...

Not getting on you, but how could you have a let down game on the road against a top ten team?

FWIW, the week after WSU beat USC in Pullman they were on the road at Oregon. They beat a pretty decent Oregon team 33-10 before laying an egg at Cal the following week. Citing the WSU loss as any kind of precedent for the Syracuse/Miami game is pretty misguided, IMO.

I think it all depends on the rain. On thing that jumps out at you watching the GT game is that the Canes play really awesome in pouring rain. When it started raining late in the game it seemed to energize them and bring them to life. Also, it rains every day in Miami. Consequently, they know how to run on that muddy field and they have tremendous confidence on it. By contrast the GT players were totally unprepared to play on a muddy field.

I think the Canes are over-rated and we can hang with them on a dry field, but if it starts raining all bets are off. One possible reason for hope: Dungey. He's from Oregon. It rains a lot in Oregon. Especially during football season.

While Walton being out sucks because he is really good we still have Travis Homer who is also really good. He has more speed than Walton. He ran for around 170 yards during his first start last week vs GT.

Just saw the points went to 16.5... I’m not sure what has them raising the points unless a ton of people are taking Miami. Maybe weather maybe Miami announcing players injured are going to play but all I know is I saw a money line of -900... I need to call Vegas

I'm hoping one of you experts can explain this to me.

So if Miami is -900, you have to risk $900 to win $100. And Say syracuse is +600. You win $600 on a $100 bet. Is my understanding correct?

Maimi is favored it is 100 to win 900 if you bet 100 on syracuse to win out right no points

You guys have more talent and more speed at virtually every position. No one needs it pointed out to them that so and so is really really good. This is textbook scheme vs talent, team vs individual.

If you want to bet on Miami it is 900 to win 100
Man, that's a really good deal. I'll be spending the rest of the week convincing Canes fans there's never been a better time to take out a second mortgage.
