What is the point in that? If Carney is better play him vs ND in a more meaningful game. If he isn’t better then he shouldn’t play BC either.

Brown is 13-12 after 2 seasons, I am figuring he gets outcoached by O'Brien and we lose to BC in a close one to finish in last place in the ACC. I guess 10-3, 3-9 is better than the 6.5 wins, 6 loses average. I am not advocating for anything but Babers got fired for not winning 7 games.

I guess maybe an unspoken hot seat if next season is more of same since Angeli got hurt. But I would be stunned if he didn’t cool it down quick. He seems way too driven to not fight back and turn this around fast. We were looking at a great season prior to Angeli getting hurt. We know we can win with Fran and in close games as well. We haven’t come close to even being in a one possession game in the 4th quarter in ages.

Angeli is the wildcard here. Can one guy make that much of a difference? Idk, but it sure seemed that way. Never seen one guy make so much of a difference but the qb room better change next year it or we will be doomed….

I guess 10-3, 3-9 is better than the 6.5 wins, 6 losses average. I am not advocating for anything but Babers got fired for not winning 7 games. It took Babers 2 1/2 years to win 13, it's taken Brown 2 years. Both are mediocrity at its finest.

The level of recruiting is significantly better under Fran. I think after 4-5 years, the difference in results will be clear.

ND is a useless game as well. First start at home would make sense. Fidali got his first start at home against a terrible team I say give Carney the same treatment.

I was also wondering about that dustup when Miami tried the backwards pass to the offensive lineman for the TD at the end. Why would you waste a great gadget play on a 1st and goal at the 3 with a 28 pt lead (and only 2:53 left when they scored).

A lot of it too is with parity smaller than ever, a QB is so much more valuable. Also, the ACC especially, it’s a conference of QB. The team that has the better QB will win more conference games than not. Just like the Big 10 is defense.

I’m a football guy too… I was born in 88 so I saw mcnabbs era quite well and I think freeney was the best player we’ve ever had but at a position that’s less obvious… but I am still optimistic about Fran

it was to embarrass Syracuse and Brown and it did. Brown shouldn't complain about it, if he didn't like it his defense should have stopped it. Reminds me of Shafer yelling across the field at Swinney when Clemson was calling timeouts and trying to score again before halftime when the Tigers were already up big.

That’s the football years where I became an Orange fan. But then I started at Syracuse in the years that basketball became a thing and my Jr. year (1975) we were a Final Four team. But it is my love of SU football that made me decide to attend SU.

Responding here since I can’t respond in the game thread. I never said Angeli would not be a good enough QB for next season. I was very satisfied with his performance. But there is one portal window now in January, and some WRs won’t know exactly how his recovery will go. The WRs want to show their talent while they have that chance. And did we not just learn what happened when we lost a QB? I don’t see our backup on the current team. Carney has not shown it either. If we want to keep our really good receivers (both current and committed to SU) Fran still needs to find someone who can run this team if Angeli’s recovery is delayed. And if we want to take that step up in football status, then a really good backup QB is essential. I know I’ve also said in the NIL world this is a difficult find but this is what Fran is good at. And this unknown is why I worry about the stability of our WR room.

ya it wasn’t as bad but it’s still cringe. Play better and every team has the right to run whatever play they want.

Miami is also terrible they are copeing for having yet another disappointing season of no playoff.

Even a smaller injury… hypothetically let’s say Angeli was down for 4 weeks. You can’t just throw 4 games down the drain. A backup QB is a must.

Completely agree. If they can get someone that can keep Angeli off the field to take more time to recover they should do it. If the guy that get is so good that Angeli returns full time in 2027 that could be a good situation as well. We see what a capable QB can do in this system for a full season and a part of this season.

Fran is really a love him or hate him type of coach, I feel like there is not much in between.

Fran’s fault is being a good enough coach to have put us in a position early this year to have legitimate hopes, even top 25 hopes, in a season everyone here had already written off as lost before a snap was taken
