Midseason W/L projections

And Clemson doesn't get to play AJ Long and our 3rd string OL.

Well hopefully not our backup OL at least.
watson is better than dungey now

watson vs SU's defense is a LOT better than dungey vs their's

Dude, I admire your conviction. I really do. Incredible

What else is there to have? This team is capable, but young, and I just do not think any of the teams in the ACC are unbeatables like other teams out there. At this point, this has been such an up and down year, who the knows what could happen next.

I'll leave the 4-8, 5-7's to the rest of you. ;)

Haha no shitt. And the same friggin thing could have been said last year. Backup Stoudt > Backup Long. Clemson's D > Syracuse's D.

Yep. Right way to look at it for sure. Like I said, I tip my hat to you

I try not to get too high after a win and too low after a loss. A season is a grind, a long time and a lot of work.

Right now in looking at the schedule Each opponent looks a certain way based off our most recent game. Our view of the next opponent will change literally week by week.

The only thing I can say is that I'm confident that we'll be able to play football with a majority of the remaining schedule. As far as W's and L's, who really knows? Just roll the ball out every week and see what happens.

And, for the first time I can remember, I agreed with something Bud said on the radio yesterday. He said because football is unlike any other game in that we only play on a weekly basis, and because we have a week to hash over all the results, our opinions tend to become sensationailized one way or another. We talk ourselves into our greatness or lack thereof on a weekly basis until the game.

Is it likely the rest of the year is a rough going? Yep.

I will be pissed if I have to eat my words either way because that means we had yet another non-bowl year. I don't think 7-5 is unrealistic, but time will tell.

Have to start playing some sound football. That crap last weekend was horrific.

stoudt was better than long last year. and clemson's defense was better. and they beat us by 10

Yep. And it's worse this year because of the youth. Higher highs, lower lows. Roller coaster more intense this year.

most of the team is much improved. the pass defense will undo all of it for wins and losses. but at least there won't be a million things to fix. Syracuse is a butterface and the secondary is the face

I think that's his point. By 10.

Agreed, make a few stops on D, somehow be just slightly horrible in the secondary, more efficient on offense and the rest will take care of itself, it isn't that far off but wins are the bottomline

And when you watched the game, did it appear that Clemson was a guaranteed win over us?

The talent is obviously greater at Clemson than Syracuse, but the gap looked closer last year.

i had no hope of the offense doing anything that game

if we don't get to 6 wins i stand by the prediction that Coyle will make the change. People forget a new AD usually means a new coach unless the machinery is well oiled (see Gross and Boeheim).

Coyle isn't going to allow a guy he didn't hire dictate the results of the highest profile sport that his job depends on. I mean it only makes sense. I think we will make a bowl b/c Shafer is coaching for his job here. Pull out all the stops time folks.

I dont think a team that most realistic people had as a 5-7 win team really has played any different than expected so far. if anything scoring 24+ every game has to provide some hope. it was an ugly game , 2 To's that were not forced did not help a team that that has issues to solve. for all that it was a 7 pt game in the 4th just like LSU and the D did not make a stop when it was needed.. although it really made the stop twice in that key drive but found a way to give the stop away both times.

win or lose vs UV I dont know why people throw the Pitt game at home away. Pitt has been a 300 yd team since week 2. UL has been the same too except for Samford.

our pass D may kill us yet, then again it may not they way other teams QBs have been playing.

we don't get to play cole stoudt this year

Maybe we will. That's the problem with predictions, one key injury can really change a team.

I think it's hard to predict anything right now, but I'd have a much better idea after this week's game. Which is the true midpoint anyway. If we lose, I think your scenario is correct, we beat BC. If we win, I think we can get 2 more somewhere and end with 6.

My biggest fear with the D isn't that they can't stop the pass, it's that they can't stop the run. Which will mean a lot of long days. If we could stop the run, but had a bad secondary, you can at least tee off on the QB and win enough battles with sacks to force a few punts or turnovers.

i was hoping fournette's game would be our worst. that hope died the next game

3. That's the number between 3 and 12 that the random number generator picked for me. I figure it's about as accurate as anything else with this young team that we have absolutely no clue about from week to week.

Hmmmmmm so I forgot about the fact that we have a chance to win a bowl game. I changed my random generator to 13 max wins and the new number generated was 13! Kick ass.

So at this point I predict anywhere from 3-13 wins based on my computational model.
