There are three complete teams in the ACC, VT has an elite defense.

The rest is no better than standard BE fare, and most below that.

It took 10 years but this team looks right now as if P and D never left, except they would have found a way to generate more points out of a 300+ yds rushing.

This looks a lot like the 2001 season. PSU = GT, NWestern = UT. Problem is with Clemson and FSU it's like playing Miami twice. GT might be the VT type team, but they aren't as good as VT was that year.

They have their identity for this year on offense, now they need to find a way to squeeze a little bit more out of the pass game.

Tom Savage is a human pineta.

I'll be very surprised if SU doesn't run the table at home. GT and Md difference between an ok and really good season.

I never know if statements like these are compliments of sarcasm. I assume this one was a compliment.

I was thinking ironic.

Looking at the time of your post, you either got up really early this morning or you never went to bed:)

I think this team hits much harder than any P team I recall.

Infeed, I think this team hits harder than any SU team I have seen since the 1968-69 or 1971 teams.

Don't think I could ever say there was anything elite about VT!

The talent level upgrade on defense is unbelievable, compared to 2009. In fact, apart from WR, we were the more athletic team out there.

If they can get anything out of Estime the offense could jump up to another level. Even if that means dumbing down the playbook for him to have a couple of plays and not having to grasp the whole thing (which the report recently said was the issue). He has already burned his redshirt so they need to put something in for him as he is the one game breaker that they have speed-wise.

Funderburk remains the big disappointment. I'd love to know the real story there - was his athletic ability more hype than truth or does his attitude suck? He was there yesterday so he has not pissed away travel team but it is hard to understand how he does not even get a chance when the rest of the WRs are not superstars.

I'm with you on that, bro. Does anybody here have an inkling of why the kid hasn't gotten any playing time? This one is a real head-scratcher.:noidea:

FWIW, I liked the branding of "Things I think I know" a week or so ago.

Along those lines:

* We saw hard-nosed yesterday based on the not-so-full tape I was able to watch. Wow.

* A major sign of program progress is to lose Lyn and Davis and have some depth in Wigham, Morgan and Kirkland to contribute.

* We got a win with Hunt not playing great at all, but finding a way. I'll take it.

* I yearn for the day when we have special teams swagger. (I will not count Wagner). We need to emphasize and win in this area to compete at a high level in the ACC and no damn reason why that shouldn't be the case.

* The board seems 10x more active after a loss than a win. Maybe that's human nature, but just kinda disappointing.

* I still have no idea what this team is capable of.

Moore and McDonald flat out said it he doesn't have the playbokk down and that is keeping him off the field

Even if so, it would be nice to see him get a few chances, with the things he does have down.

I don't know what's going on but West is bringing nothing to the table this season. Obviously Sales and Lemon's presence helped him quite a bit...but THAT much? To where he becomes a complete nonfactor?

How can the playbook be that difficult? All we do is shotgun handoffs, screen passes and bombs.

It's not like the passing plays work anyway. Maybe a little ad-libbing will loosen things up a bit.

hey i'm with you guys. i'm just passing along the reason given

Go to 2 tight ends, and Ashton, our wide receivers don't catch or block well. Moore is getting time at tight end, seems to have good hands, and he has size.

People keep saying West is bringing nothing. While I agree he isn't a top flight #1, he more than anyone isn't being helped by the QB. Twice vs Clemson and three times vs NCSt, he got open downfield and Hunt missed him. Each time it was on the QB. If we hit those 5, I'm not sure we're asking as often what's wrong with West.

West is ok in the slot. Kobena and Clark need to be buried DEEP on the bench. I dont care if Estime and Funder dont know the playbook. Just tell them to get open. Obviously the plays we do run dont work anyways, since the guys that do play simply cant get any separation. How hard is it to say "go deep". LOL

Hunt looks bad. Real bad. When the only good thing people can find to say about a qb is that he can run well, yikes. That being said, Allen cant pass or run so we are stuck with T.Hunt for this year and probably next. I would LOVE it if AJ Long really is something special and can beat our Hunt. Hunt is not in any way the answer for this team. The coaching staff knows it (thus getting Allen), and any SU fan who watches the games knows this as well.

You clearly lack a basic understanding of how football works but ok, LOL. Hunt has started 4 games. After bashing how our WR's can't get open, you blame Hunt. Makes sense.

Wait a minute: that can't be right. 2 games ago some folks here were declaring the kid a future Heisman hopeful and comparing him to Donovan McNabb, Marvin Graves and Don McPherson.

Your blind support for things that arent working make you questionable as a fan. I bet you backed GRob to the bitter end.
To each his own.

Our WR that do play, do nothing. Period. Twist it however u want, but thats fact. You play your best players, period.

PS - i have coached football for 15 years... yes, of course i know you cant just send guys out randomly like in the schoolyard. What i do know, however, is a good coach will find a way to get Estime on the field.

As for kick returns, if anyone isnt in favor of him doing this then its a lost cause.

Not me. Hunt is merely a stopgap, and a poor one at that.
He was worst yesterday (against a mediocre team) than Allen was in any of his games. They are both bad. Its all we got this year though, so we need to hope we keep pounding the ball successfully.

We all felt that way about Kobena on kickoffs two years ago. How'd that work out?
