Might cut the cord

Yeah, I have a Chromecast that I got for free (or significantly discounted) but I gave her my older Roku as she already had roku on another TV and is familiar with it. It's a nightmare giving her something new and different. She basically just needs to get to the Spectrum TV app as that's pretty much all she watches. She watches it like watching TV on a cable box.

Does the new ESPN service (~$30) include all of ESPN's affiliate channels like ACC Network and ACCNX? Just wondering if I can have only that to watch Syracuse, rather than YouTube TV? Obviously, if something would not be on an ESPN platform I'd be out of luck.

From what I have read, yes it does.

There will still be games not covered by the ESPN app. SU is likely to play on CW a couple times this season. They are playing ND on NBC in November.

So I would be sure you can get those stations as well, even if only using an antenna to get them.

It looks like this YouTube TV-ESPN dispute is going to cost me something. I need to find a way to get ESPN access for tonight's basketball game vs. Binghamton. It looks like Fubo offers a free trial?

Yes, but Friday I opted for the 1 day pass from Sling for $5. Worked great. And you can do it any time you need to.

DirecTV has a 5 day trial. Unfortunately, if YTTV doesn't get the issue resolved by Wednesday then I'll have paid for both services this month.

We'll likely place YTTV on pause. They are giving us 2 free weeks, but that won't fix the issue.
We prefer the YTTV user interface over DirecTV, so we'll end up there.

We hosted a big Florida-Georgia party on Saturday and I (for some reason 😢) wanted to watch the Syracuse game on Friday. DirecTV appeared to be our best option.

Today I'll have to log out of my ESPN app and try to log in with my DirecTV credentials.

I also have YTTV so the dispute sucks but I also have an espn select subscription so I'll watch the game tonight via their app.

I canceled YouTubeTV and added Disney+ for $29.95 a month

That’s exactly what Disney is trying to do here with YTTV subscribers
It's a band aid though. That will get you through the short term but it's no long term solution (at least for me). I absolutely hate the epsn app. The content is good; the media player blows. Watching a game on demand and trying to fast forward through the game is a pain. I watch a lot of games recorded so this really bothers me. Amazing how bad it is. Watching espn programming via YYTV is miles better. Now, if you watch most of your programming live, probably not as big of a deal.

Agreed...I'm going to reevaluate in a month...but in reality I only watch like 8 channels

That wouldn't go over well with my spouse. 🤣

She watches most Orange sports events with me, though she does read things on her phone.
I also watch, or sit along, for most of her shows... a laptop comes in handy

I caved.

I already had a Disney+, Hulu bundle, so I just upgraded it to include espn. Took me from $19/month to $38 I think.

Does this mean I can stop paying the $12 for espn+ that I've been paying for the last decade?

Yes you should be able to stop it

Some notable bundles right now:
Hulu-Disney-HBO (all with ads) - $19.99/mo. - This gets you the Players Era tourney
Hulu-Disney-ESPN (all with ads) - $19.99/mo. (I believe you still need a cable provider that has ACCN to access ACCN games, but not 100% certain)

Peacock-AppleTV (both with ads) - $14.99/mo.

I just realized I've been paying for a monthly subscription to ESPN Select AND the Disney/ESPN annual. Man that pisses me off. I just cancelled the monthly. I'm not sure why I have an annual - my wife must have signed up for that one.

I can't stand most of the streaming services with ads - I'd rather pay the few bucks more a month for ad-free streaming. With YoutubeTV I can at least fast forward through the ads on recorded shows. The streamers don't let you skip ads and a lot of the time, it's the same ad(s) each break. Not only are most ads annoying, it feels like a waste of my valuable time having to sit through them.

Yeah, it’s always worth it to me to pay more to eliminate ads, even on this site.

So 3 NFL games today.2 on Netflix and one on Amazon. How many subscription services do we need now to watch sports?
