Minnesota hiring Nick Monroe

I'm not a recruiting wonk but I don't understand the "rock star" comments about his recruiting. Being a rock star recruiter for our program is sort of like being the best soldier in -Troop. Finding diamonds and coaching them up huge loss, recruiting svengali ...dont see it.
Underrated line. Well played, sir.

Sorry to see the Swag leave. Sounds like a great opportunity.
However, by no means is the sky falling. Good recruiter yup. Good secondary coach, yup. I was disappointed a few of his better secondary guys ended up in the portal at the end of the season, though, but maybe for a different reason.
We lost our two coordinators the same day, and many thought the world was imploding. Arguably we faired just as good if not better. Losing a position coach and recruiter is tough, but it provides an opportunity for the program to get some fresh energy and to get better. No position coach should be viewed as indespensbile.
Clemson also lost both coordinators at the same time in 2021. Hell they even lost their AD that same week too. They lost a few commits along the way. Last I checked they won the ACC title again winning 11 games this year.
We’ll be fine. Good luck coach.

Agree. If I had to guess, we are looking for a coach with strong ties to Florida, who has been coaching safeties for a while.

Someone like this.

If we are going to hire an alum, I would think about Rodney Wells. He has been doing a hell of a job at Dr Phillips in Orlando. No experience as a college coach but he has a ton of contacts in Florida.

We have to hire someone the HS coaches in Florida know and respect.

I would LOVE a hire like Gibson.

It will be interesting to see what defense Swag and his Minny co-defensive coordinator decide on. May be hard to cherry-pick our defense when we have been playing a 3-3-5 for several years now.

How can we get Syracuse in the Big Ten
I remember when the Rutgers rumors were going on that they were headed to the Big Ten, Mike Francesa of WFAN always said his sources were telling him the Big Ten wanted Syracuse instead. So that was a long time ago but was real interesting at the time. I always thought that culturally and geographically we were a better fit for the Big Ten rather than the southern-based ACC. But academically we didn’t have some kind of accreditation or designation that Big Ten schools must have. Someone in education or academia will know what that accreditation or designation is. I think it has something to do with research done at the schools.

Any chance they kick Rutgers out and take us instead?

AAU. SU had AAU membership and I believe Nancy let it lapse

Haha. Trust me, I had some ranting and raving and my wife had no idea what was happening as she was heading out to grab a coffee.
my wife always knows that when I'm down in the dumps, 80% of the time it has something to do with Syracuse. 10% job related, 10% family related. I'll be bitching and moaning about something inconsequential and she'll say "Syracuse lost today I'm assuming?"
