Moore and Freeman

People can complain all they want about Carlos, but he is the only ball handler on this team. Did you hear Maryland’s coach? He said it out loud. Carlos is the only guy that can handle on the entire Syracuse team, and he’s correct. Choppa, Cuffe, and Taylor can not come close to running any semblance of a team. Our bigs were dominated today on both ends of the court. Bell should portal right now. He doesn’t want to play. He doesn’t show any desire to compete. Love Choppa’s energy, but he is very undisciplined and can’t pass to save his behind. He’s just as out of control on defense. He can’t close out. Neither can Freeman. People say you have to play the two freshman. How do you look at the other players with the way they compete on the defensive end? Red has to keep running guys in and out and hope someone competes. No one on this team deserves more time than anyone else.
Sad but I have to give a like as I think your comment on Carlos, as sad as it is, is true.

I took a minute to dream and compare Jaquan to Judah Mintz who we lost to the NBA. There is no comparison.

I'd like to see a starting five of, if he were still here instead of playing with the Delaware Blue Coats,
Mintz, Moore, Freeman, Davis and Lampkin.

In 2023-24, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 18.8 points, 4.4 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 steals in 32 games, en route to being selected to the All-ACC Second Team.

Mintz has the size and athleticism to finish strong at the rim and earn easy trips to the free-throw line. As a primary ball-handler, he can create shots for himself and leverage his scoring gravity to generate open looks for teammates. Defensively, Mintz is adept at forcing turnovers and running out in transition.

I believe there would be a better Syracuse team on the floor if Mintz were here. Dream end.

In the post-game presser, Red basically said he didn’t intend to start Jyare, but there was a “miscommunication” and then they just went with it anyway. I’d love to get the full back story on that one…
I turned off the tv a few minutes into the game totally shocked at that lineup. An overwhelmed Carlos, the only ball handler and 2 quick turnovers. I'm done.

We can't fill out the starting lineup correctly?
We're really on our game here.

so he has nothing to say to Red about PLAYING JC for 40 minutes?
He's just sitting back? Watching our best shooters/players stew on the bench? Embarrassing the program?
Is he signing players?
what in the mf'ing thing is he actually evaluating?
College ≠ pros.
A GM can't just be posting on social media and "evaluating talent".
Are you SERIOUS! Did you even watch those other guys try and bring the ball up? There isn’t one other guy on this team that can handle the ball well enough to get it over halfcourt.Sad as it is Carlos is the one AND ONLY guy I would trust handling the ball against any pressure.I like Moore a lot but he is a bad ball handler. Taylor and Cuffe are even worse.

Then use two guys who can dribble a little bit and pass it back and forth to get it past half court. At least there would be a chance they could actually do something once they got there.

JB not here to blame anymore. He won the 2nds most games of all time sure he's a moody old man but I care about wins more than having a personable coach anyday.
He wasn't winning nearly as much in his last years, in case you didn't notice Chuck. As someone mentioned earlier, part of being leader is passing it off to the next person in good shape and JB failed miserably in that regard. But yes, Autry has made it worse, no question.

What? “ Two guys who can dribble a little bit who pass it back and forth.”If Red had only thought of that in game planning.

I am being purposefully simplistic. My point is that the idea that not a single guard on the team can get the ball past half court is ludicrous. And if it is true, that is even more of a reason to get rid of the coaches who made that possible. JC has been useless in the half court offense and his defense is terrible.

What do you mean? JB left Red his best recruiting class ever:)

Defense travels. Defense is basically a question of will or want. Will you make the effort & do you even want to?
There's never a reason why ANY team should suck like we do on defense. If they practice like they play, then you sit any and every one not willing to compete, and send a loud, clear message that it won't be tolerated. Period.

Unpopular opinion, Moore is really undisciplined. I get that he's a freshman, but he doesn't play any defense and the ball sticks to him on offense. I get that we have no defensive principals or run any offense. I'm okay with his current minutes.

I don't know how any highly rated recruit comes here after watching us develop Freeman.

I'm far from an expert, but every time I watch this team I see #8 and think "Him? This is the kid who 99% of the board wants to get more minutes?"

He struggles to dribble. He moves like Greg Davis. It's probably an indictment of how far the talent level has fallen that he's even on the roster. Maybe that's why people like him more than the other guard who isn't good enough.

He’s raw but can create his own shot and can shoot the three, which is more than the rest of the team. He is also a very hard worker.

Come on, man. Are you getting him mixed up with Lucas Taylor? Choppa Moore was a top 60 recruit and is known for his shooting. Comparing him to Greg Davis? This is a nonsense comment. He’s only a freshman so he’s going to be inconsistent. But he’s already scored 16 against Maryland in only 22 mins, 24 against Tennessee and 19 against Cornell. He’s struggling with his defense and offensive consistency but he plays hard and has a high upside. The coaching staff isn’t doing him any favors not running more actions for him. But he’s the least of our problems.
