According to a well placed source Wildhack and Babers had a conversation a couple of years back where Wildhack noted that when SU was at it's peak the roster was comprised mostly of top NY kids, a good number of NJ/NEPA/NE guys, and a significant number of Florida players.

Pretty evident that Babers has taken that to heart based on where he has his best recruiter working.

There is no reason based on the job this staff did this year, and the marriage of the dome with their approach to the game, that SU can't be back to were it was from '87-'01. 8,9, 10 wins the expectation, consistently ranked, going toe to toe with anybody, playing in NY6 games, maybe more?

The ACC is the perfect conference for SU to compete in. They don't have to face giant land grant programs week in and week out like the SEC or B10.

In the old big east SU had to get through Miami, VT, and either a very good WVU, Pitt, or BC to win the conference. Same situation now.

Exciting times ahead.

It's really exciting to see us do well in Florida. Quite the credit to Monroe.

There's more competition in Florida than we had in the 90s. The G5 local schools are a better option than they used to be (CFU, USF, FAU, FIU).

Then there are a lot of other schools between us and Florida that probably never had traction but have invested heavily since then. Places like NC State, Wake and others.

With all that, we're still doing pretty well there. Exciting times indeed.

It wasn't until we started talking about "what bowl" we would be going to after the last game that it hit me how close we were to a NY6 game. Can't believe we even got to the point that that was a possibility.

If it was a different year in the playoff rotation, people would have made their Miami plans already.

Never mind the fact that any other year, we'd be playing in the Orange Bowl. Think about that. If you had told me at the beginning of the year, that we'd be an Orange Bowl team, I'd have laughed directly in your face. Unfortunately it has no acc tie in this year as it's used as a playoff game.
