More on strickland

First of all Syracuse was one of the few schools to offer Strickland at running back...most of his offers were as a athlete. Strickland is a long strider with speed but a running back needs burst to hit a hole and if you don't have burst you better be a 240lbs battering ram.....Stickland has neither in my opinion .....

all the life lessons taught about how you need to work work work are great but they can't run the ball and he could

New coach, new system, new culture. Guy bucked when he should have gotten in line. Babers needed a team following him and doing it his way more than he needed a RB.

Tough choice, but the right one imo

Give the Jordan Fredericks stuff a break. It's been said multiple times. LAZY.
I'm so sorry Mr. bnoro. I guess you don't want to answer whether Barry Baker is still eligible, either. :)

I dont say a lot on here but when has anyone ever seen strick run away from anyone. I see dline guy catch up to him. He is far from fast. He also would be terrible in the slot. Maybe outside backer but i doubt it. He is a great kid. No doubt. But would be a great backup.

As we have seen with many of our better backs from the past, a redshirt year is often necessary to learn the playbook, protection schemes, and everything else that comes with playing the position.

It'd be great if we could just plug in the most talented player at every position and run them out there at full capacity. But that's not the way it works.

If that was the case, James Mungro would have played as a true freshman. He was the most talented at the time (in my opinion) but it took him awhile.

Here's hoping that's the case for a few of these other guys they're redshirting. And hopefully a couple of the freshmen coming in next year are immediately ready to go.

I thought he did.

If I remember correctly we brought in 2 backs that year. The other being Ali Culpepper who in his own right was a big time back. Culpepper played his true freshman season at Syracuse and then transferred out. Went to Morgan State.

Correct but Mungro was the stud of the class.

Let's hope a couple of the guys redshirting are in similar boats -- I suspect the Mass. CB (can't spell his name and won't try to) is one.

It was Terry Morris, the former fullback. Joe thought he could beat him, at roughly 2 am, from one end of the street to the other. They lined up on the other end, I stood at Archie's (RIP) with a couple players. The race started. Morris finished, we went in to grab some pizza, have a few laughs. Walked back outside just in time for Joe to finish the race.

Man, just looked at Dee Brown, Mungro, and Reyes stats... All around the same time. Talk about three damn good RBs.

Depressing comparing to the last two years.

Is Reyes one of the most underrated players we ever had?

Seriously. He is in the top 10 amongst as impressive a group of RBs historically as what you'll see at any school, and half of his senior year was cut short due to that shoulder separation. Who knows where he might have ended up on the school's all time rushing ranks if he hadn't gotten hurt.

Feel bad that the injury also robbed him of a viable NFL career opportunity. He was definitely of that caliber.

Another thing to think about: was the offensive line from 2000-2005 THAT much better than the one that's in place now?

Maybe it was. I don't know. I guess Terry and Ojinnnaka did have stints in the NFL. Just doesn't seem like it was significantly better.

Brown, Mungro, Brinkley, and Carter all made the NFL and Reyes was probably better than all of them in college. His Junior year was so good.

Good programs replace RB's and LB's without missing a beat. Let's hope our efforts replacing LB's goes better than finding a replacement for Jerome has.

Indeed. Especially a school that was once regarded as the Running Back University of the East.

I don’t think this staff is worried about LB.
