Well - John Gillon came in as a transfer, with the idea that he'd be the 3rd guard (most likely) given that we had Frank returning to be our starter at PG.

Except Frank was hurt and didn't play well, so eventually Gillon took his starting spot, and the team started playing better.

Assuming the worst, and that Kadary doesn't return -
given the MASSIVE number of kids in the portal this year, I'd be completely shocked if we didn't manage to pull in another guard to compete w/ Joe (& Buddy - LOL) for minutes.

I agree with you, if Kadary leaves we will pull in a 3rd guard that is capable of actually pushing for minutes. My point was simply that Howard Washington was not that guy (all respect to HoWa).

Big fan of Washington as a kid and nothing but respect for everything hes been through, but we need better on the court.

Good grief if KR isn't here next year, and we don't have a legit high caliber type PG to take his place. The HUGE reason we have been consistently mediocre in our conference/overall for several years in a row now is not having one, as well as a legit P5 level center. I'm hopeful that Edwards and Frank will be able to improve/fill that gap next season and be admirable there. Joe can play some point, but not full time, for no other reason than what many have seen/debated all regular season relative to his short comings, etc.

This 2 game run so far in the Dance is awesome, no doubt about it. However, once we get back in our conference play again next year, where teams are familiar with the zone, personnel, etc., we'd likely fall/place to our seemingly perennial middle of the pack conference standing.

Excellent point above regarding it being a tough year for freshmen. To try and keep this season going I'm sure they were very isolated and a lot of them probably really struggled not being able to spend much time with kids their own age outside of basketball.

Plain and simple they cannnot let him leave, Joe is having a nice run but Kadary is the future of this program, Joe is a nice off the bench guard. They need to recruit him back if he is thinking about going.

I think we all know how good he is and is going to continue to get better. Would suck seeing him continue success and reach his potential at another school when he could be doing it here. Also, what I find ironic is how quickly he was to commit here without even visiting and now rumors of him wanting out.

Without a functional PG with size and athleticism it’s hard to be that optimistic.

I have not said that he is 100% leaving. Just some things I am hearing. What is troublesome is that I am hearing it is not about playing time. That is something we can work around. I guess we will know one way or another in the not to distant future.

Would be on par for Syracuse. Other teams get their best players to stay an extra year. Syracuse gets their beat player to transfer out for some weird reason.

Yeah people forget Joe has asthma. Either way lots of hand wringing over nothing. There will be enough talent coming back where we should finish better than where we have been the past few seasons.

100% agree. I have to think the coaches are way ahead of us on roster management.

Interesting point about relationships. Could be possible without a normal year this year, Kadary only really got close with Woody - and with Woody leaving it might put Kadary in a weird place. Definitely don’t wanna speculate, but hoping for the best!

Eh if it isn't about PT the kid could probably use a week at home away from everybody he has spent the last 8 months with. We all need to clear our heads every now and then, especially after the last year or so.

And like dubs said, being roommates with Woody and spending more time with him than anybody might have gave him an abnormal perspective on this season and what to expect going forward.

??? Sometimes, people aren't happy where they are. There doesn't have to be a good guy or a bad guy. And you can't make people want to stay somewhere. Once again, not saying he is gone for sure. All of this could be very old news, but some places aren't the right place for everyone. Any of us that went to school, did you think about leaving? True story, about 10 weeks in to my first semester, I went home and told my mom that I wanted to leave Syracuse. She heard me out and said , no. You wanted to go so bad, you are going to stick it out. I fell in love with Syracuse. Minds change. I just wanted people to know what I am hearing.

We are in the sweet and you make this post. Playing time is not an issue hes gotten the keys to the convertible from JB. Boo Hoo it's been a tough year on the freshman to make friends and be a college experience outside of basketball team.
