Most undertated part if ghis game.

Trevor handling the ball handling duties when Duke denied Ennis the ball. Subtle positive, but hugely effective.
So right...his progress as a ball handler has been really impressive

That was a good drive--however, he has to use his left hand in that situation. He tried to push it with his right hand, leading to an awkward shot.

That killed me.

I know C.J.'s not comfortable with using the off-hand and thus settles for the inside hand on layups sometimes, but we know that Cooney can finish with both. Strange mistake; he got the difficult part out of the way with the drive and then made the finish more complicated than it needed to be.

Another example of how statistics don't always reveal why a team wins or loses a game. This observation is spot-on--Cooney handled the ball several times. Though he only had one assist, he had no turnovers. That is key against Duke's pressure.

The fact that he also created some of his own offense off of the dribble, getting a few two-pointers to drop in the process, bodes well for his development this season and beyond.

Lots of positives in this one. Bench play in 1st half and half-court offense in the 2nd half/OT for SU. Really liked how Cuse went after mismatches tonight. Made Duke pay for not being a strong defensive team.
Tyler Robeson look engaged and active in his run. He has to get a game against a bottom feeder to get 20 min of experience. He's almost there.Monday night could be that night and we probably need it to be. Imagine getting up for Monday , your adreneline has to be still on refill then.

Spot on! The detail power-stats of the Pomeroy's etc, get you in the ballpark per se, where you can get a very general idea as to what the numbers say is team is likely to do.
You still need the eyes, gutfeels, experience to really know the story.

Absolutely. Between Ennis' decent sized rest in the first half and Cooney brining the ball up, it felt like JB was making sure that Ennis would be fresh at the end...especially given his ankle and apparently being a bit under the weather. Masterful.

Ahem (from Tomcat's "My Take" thread, post-Wake Forest) ...

Cooney has been quietly impressive late in tight games. Every team knows by now that Ennis will be "the engineer" coming down the stretch, and Cooney plays the support role perfectly. He doesn't shirk from it. He reads Ennis and the play, gets open at the right time, comes to meet the ball, and doesn't handle it like it's on fire or that he can't wait to get rid of it. And he's made shots in that position, too.

The ND game would be a nice time to get Roberson and Gbinije some extended run.

Trevor's best game so far when we needed it most.
