Besides having numerous top 20 teams, one of the tough things about SU in the BE is that JB is facing coaches who have had years of experience against the zone. They know how tough it is and have figured out ways to beat it. Now when SU moves to the ACC what will happen the first few years? Will it take longer for SU to adjust to the ACC "style" of play and the referee's or for the better ACC teams to figure out the zone?

There's not much difference in "style of play", other than Big East teams tend to be more physical. Dixon and Pitt will have a hard time moving to the ACC. Boeheim/Hopkins and Syracuse won't.

We didn't get screwed on calls down in Raleigh.

I think their teams will have a tough time with the zone. Duke with K is the only team that might have has figured out.

I thought the refs were pretty decent - even the notorious Karl Hess.

The ACC teams won't have a hard time "figuring out" the zone. If they don't already know how to attack the zone there is plenty of film available for them to study. The real question is will they have the players that are capable to making the plays required to beat the zone and also have the patience to attack it in the way required to get the shots that the zone gives you.

The difference is that coaches like Calhoun and Pitino's are better game day coaches than Williams, or most of the rest of the ACC.

Agree with this. Knowing what to do and being able to execute what you know against SU's length, aggressiveness and anticipation are two different things. All coaches at this level know "what" to do.

screw the strategy nonsense. isn't the ACC a "dry" conference? how will we adapt to that??????

You don't think that will lead to temperance in the Dome do you?

Yeah, I think Calhoun is better than any ACC coach and Pitino isn't far behind with most of the other BE coaches being better than their ACC counterparts.

Roy Williams got a good look in 2003.
and K knows the zone pretty well ... he has always complicated JB on the zone and don't forget that K and JB coach together every summer ... I think that K will have the zone down pretty pat by the time we get there ... and besides he loves those 3 point shooters.
