The Long Walk was pretty good.

Weapons and Sinners were also great. I read The Long Walk over the summer but haven't gotten around to the movie yet.

Naked Gun was a lot of fun. Honored the original with high density of jokes that had a good if not perfect hit rate.

One Battle After Another lived up to the hype. See it on the biggest screen you can.

That is all.
Movie of the year without a doubt. Didn't feel close to the 160 minute runtime. I hope it has some word of mouth momentum because it would be a big bummer for this to not be a profitable film and fail to justify the huge budget that PTA got (and obviously deserved).

Saw One Battle After Another yesterday, and it definitely lived up to the hype. So good. It just propels forward and flies by. Funny too!

Watched Eddington on demand. dunno i was expecting so much more. the topic is so raw in this country. instead it kinda dropped the ball devolved into a long wild west sniper fest . disappointed.

Watched 28 Years Later on Netflix. It was a little scattered tonally, but it brought some new ideas to the zombie genre that I liked. Very strong performances and only like 5 characters so it doesn't get caught up in sprawling lore like a lot of franchises do. Strong recommend.

I thought one battle was very good.

Del Toro was great, Leo was good. Penn was good.

Once it got past the setup it really moved along.

The political under tones were interesting . wonder when it was written

Also strange to see DeSoto without Gage, Nice touch with his name being Roy. . Its been 10 years since he acted, Wonder what the connection was

I was gifted a subscription to The Criterion Channel over the holidays and am hooked. So much classic, independent and international stuff, plus director commentaries and lots of curated collections from star actors and directors which help if you're stuck (Search "Criterion Closet" on YouTube for examples).

Also, it's $11/month with no ads. If I were paying for it I'd consider it a steal.

you really need to be a film nerd to appreciate that collection though
Yes and no. I don’t really consider myself a film nerd (I love Fast and Furious movies and old teen comedies, for example), so the way the app is organized helps you dip your toe in instead of spending 15+ minutes looking for something to watch. It’s amazing how many older works hold up thematically/culturally.

Obviously if you already have an appreciation for the highbrow and obscure you’ll be happier than a pig in you-know-what. Dazed and Confused is probably the most “mainstream” movie on there.

i thought it started out great with perfidia and the gang but then got bogged down action wise. and while i like the idea of making the ultra rich christian pureblood society the bad guys they never really got their true comeuppance. was kinda hoping lockjaw was going to unload on the st. nick clan final scene.
now one movie i did enjoy over the holidays was HANNAH HA HA. and there is absolutely no action whatsoever in that entire film ! but the day to day slog of the protagonist's life is both sad and yet utterly engrossing.
the low budget film with nothing happening was IMO better than the big budget 2 hr+ action thriller.

Saw Marty today. It felt kinda like Forest Gump gets into way darker trouble because he wants things vs not wanting anything like Gump.

Being a sucker for alien and Spielberg movies (and both together), I am looking forward to this.

Love it, have no idea what the movie is about, just the way I like 'em.
