MSU vs Duke, KU vs UK

where is San Francisco?
Their championships are too old. For same reason, Indiana is not invited. The two major factors are
1. Must be recent.
2. Must be multiple.
We are not qualified until we get the second championship.

MSU’s championships really aren’t recent though - 1979 and 2000. By that logic, Villanova and UNC should definitely be invited.

I’m not really sure what the criteria for this Champion’s Classic is, but it seems like it’s been some combination of the same 4 teams for the last several years. They just rotate opponents.

Its Dukie V’s projected final four each year.

But they are Big Ten. Big Ten schools get some bonus points. We should have joined Big Ten when we could twenty years ago.

And Dukie vs daily Notre Dame football pimping.
Did you listen to his family tree talk? I knew his 2 daughters went to ND (I think they played tennis there), and that his 2 sons-in-law are ND Law grads. I didn't know he has 4 grandchildren at or near college age--a granddaughter at ND, a grandson who has committed to ND to play lacrosse, and twin grandsons who are going to Duke to play tennis. I'm guessing his wife supplied a good chunk of the athletic genes.

We rip on Kentucky but their schedule is really solid this year.

20 conference games.
1 tomato can
Richmond
Kansas-N
@ Georgia Tech
Notre Dame
UCLA-N
@ Louisville

25 of 27 games against P5 teams and Richmond is a good midmajor.
I don’t like Calipari but he put together a tough schedule in a pandemic year.

Kentucky is big, cant shoot, pretty athletic, dont pass
Kansas is almost as big, cant shoot, athletic

right now the worst versions of either team in 20 years.

both teams allows tons of easy 3s but you will struggle in the paint.

Watching early season NCAA hoops is really difficult this year. Maybe it's because there is little real talent or maybe it's because we all just watched the end of the NBA bubble where there is just SO much talent.

Lots of athletic guys but very sloppy with lots of poor shooting. Can't wait to see Gonzaga tonight vs a 14th ranked West Virginia team.

Baylor may be able to match up with the zags, but after those two teams it’s just a lot of average to good teams in the rest of the top 50.

Who will win the 2021 NCAA Title?

Repeat 2000's Champion (Duke, Kansas, UK, UNC, Michigan St, Syracuse, UConn, Florida, Virginia, Villanova, Louisville, Maryland)
vs
The Field + Covid

Field.
It gives you Gonzaga, Baylor, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin.

what i couldnt get is how kansas went up and down the floor vs the zags for 90 and barely got to 60 vs kentucky

I'd take the field too if Few is ever going to win a title it's this year. Plus im really high on Illinois.

How much would Buddy play :)

Covid won last year and despite what some experts say, still is as strong, if not stronger then last March.

I think that there will ultimately be an NCAA Champion crowned -- but I think it is quite possible that the tournament field will be shrunk down to as low as 16 teams selected by some committee for logistical reasons.

While Covid is much stronger now than in March 2020 when it was just starting to ramp up, I think people believe they can manage it (correctly or incorrectly) and there is much more of an appetite across all leagues to get it done in some way.

Fran isn’t impressed with this years versions of Duke and UK.

Watching the UK-KU game last night and all I could think of was, am I watching Peach Jam? Not for the specific players, but for the style of play. That might be why a lot of the top 15 programs (including ours I suppose) are struggling right now, while the mid-majors (teams 16-75) are more cohesive and team oriented.

Honestly is difficult most of the time.
