mtsu coach called lydon a lottery pick

In the post game presser he said lydon will be a lottery pick in a couple years. Kid is gonna be a beast next year.

I just can't believe how wrong I was about Lydon. When he accepted I watched his HS highlight videos. I remember thinking this kids okay but why were they offering this kid? Man, was I wrong. The coaches saw something really special in that kid. I don't think he was even ranked nationally until he accepted his Orange offer. What a recruiting class we have this year! The 3 of them are really good. Even Howard is going to be a great contributor before his career is done. He's got the moxie!

I may have missed it but is there a video of his presser?

yes, it's out there in the post game thread. He raved about his skills, calling him skilled several times. He played with some serious attitude yesterday, what a stud. He is due for a game where he drops 3 or 4 treys from deep on top of his D and 2 man game he's got going with the other bigs. How about dialing one up for Friday T Smoove?

Thanks. Found it right after I posted the question.

Was talking with a friend about how great this class is and how crazy it would've been with Bryant added too. Could've been 4-4 with freshman contributors but I'll gladly take 3 for 3. Especially if 2 are 2 year major contributors and the other a 4 year guy.

With the departure of G and Cooney, Lydon will be a much bigger part of the offense next season and get more shots. Going to be a good one.

I often hear that the NBA drafts "potential." A person's potential doesn't change, so why would he be worthy of a lottery pick in a few years and not this year? Obviously, who else is being drafted makes a difference, but I don't think the MTSU coach has any idea what the draft will look like in a couple of years.

Because of the "Tracy McGrady Syndrome" -- if you draft a guy who needs three years to develop, his contract is almost up by the time he's any good. You basically developed him for some other team.

Well-said; gotcha

The potential does change. You get a year older and develop your game more in some cases in a good way, others not so good.

Michael Olawakandi had potential... but it was soon disproved.

Next year will be a loaded draft, so he may not get into the lottery.

With that said, if he adds weight, he'll absolutely be teed up for success and should be coveted by lots of teams.

It was nice to see a class act for change. If it were Pitino he would have droned on about his players. If it were K he would have been in an "amazing" endless loop.

I'm not so sure about next year. Most of these guys they are projecting haven't played a minute of really high level ball like college. Mal is projected at 10 and Lydon is no where to be found in '17. Do you really think that is accurate? Kentucky's frosh center dropped out of the top ten and my guess is will drop much further. The truth is that nobody really has any idea until they get to college for a year. A lot of those guys will be playing more than one in college.

really? his hs tape is bomb. glad you are not our talent scout.

He probably will be, in due time. Or at least a 1st round pick. But he's certainly not there yet. He's too weak, doesn't have the quickness others may have and is only scratching the surface of his offensive abilities. He's a fine catch and shoot 3pt shooter and can finish inside, but the consistency is only starting to come.

If he pound the iron this summer, adds the muscle and hopefully adds to his game, he's going to be really tough to stop next year. And if he's not bogged down playing center, it'll be even better for him.

It was just okay for me.

Now, Tyus Battle on the other hand. His highlight reel is amazing! He is so fast it's mind boggling. If 1/2 his games translates to D1 he will be just as good as Waiters as a freshmen. Maybe I am a little over the top. But I think TB is the bomb!

What are you looking at? I see no Mal and seeing 20 here for Lydon. Not lottery, but he could work his way up there from 20.

I think Lydon stepped up his intensity this game and shrugged off some of his early misses and used them as incentive to be even more aggressive in the game. He was all over the place yesterday on defense including hitting the boards hard. I don't recall a game where he has been so intense.
