mtsu coach called lydon a lottery pick

I look at Wiltjer and wonder if that is a good comparison for Lydon, I don't know if Lydon will ever be as good a shooter, but Lydon rebounds better and I feel does so many other things to positively affect the game, but I look at Wiltjer and wonder why we can't have Lydon for his Junior year. Kyle played Frosh year at Kentucky, 5* recruit, transferred, sat out a year and in his second year (junior season really he had 17ppg and 6 reb, shooting .455 from 3.) and still decided to come back this year.

Just annoys me when we are already worried about Tyler leaving early, (won't go this year imo but if he puts up 17 and 7 next year I think he will be gone), and Wiltjer has stayed for his Senior year and is killing it. Just always feels that our National exposure and leave early culture works against us in this capacity, nothing we can do about it but I dream of Tyler's Junior year with Malachi (same problem) and Frank and Tyus as a Soph, Chukwu on the back end, it truly would be special. Next year will be good but that year would be really special.

I am amazed at how cool and calm he seems on the court. I think he understands the game like a coach would. His fundamentals are so solid. For a freshman, he almost always makes the right decision, is almost always in the right spot and never forces his shot. In 1 season he is already near the top of my favorite Syracuse players to watch play the game. I said it in the other Lydon thread, but he reminds me of Christian Laettner (except Tyler doesn't seem like an ahole). CL was one of the best college players ever, and I don't really think Tyler will become that great, but what I wouldn't give to see him stay all 4 years here and see what his senior season would look like!

Am I over doing it???? SUball

Good point. How could I be so wrong?
Jimmy has done a great job with TL and MR but I hate to see Kaleb buried on the pine with the walkons hopefully if he stays he can get some run next year, He will never be a 3 point shooter but he looked good from 15 feet last year. I just want to see him turn it around cause he is a good kid

What amazes me about Lydon is his hands. The entry passes that were thrown to him yesterday were all just a hot mess. Those were 100% turnovers if any other player is on the receiving end. Lydon some how corrals them and scores.

On the "leave early culture," I've always thought that the fact that JB plays such a short bench tends to give guys extra minutes that inflates their stats and makes them get more attention, thus more likely to leave. Think there's any truth to that?

That is an interesting take that I hadn't really thought of, I do tend to agree with that being a factor.

really? his hs tape is bomb. glad you are not our talent scout.

What video are you looking at?

I'm looking at this one:

I thought he was just okay for D1. There's nothing in that video to make you think, wow, this kid is NBA.

As much as i hate seeing him out of position at the 5 so often, i kinda hope/believe that experience is going to toughen him up so that he'll be a physical 3/4 next year. And, through his SENIOR YEAR... [crossies]

He's going to be 20 in a little over a week as a freshman, so I have to imagine he's going to need to look to go as soon as possible with next year being my guess.

Not much. More the mind set of the person. Dion had little PT. Same with McC. Didn't matter.

I do think the publicity helped some -like Ennis and Flynn. But most of the recent losses seem to have wanted to go at the first opportunity. Hoping that changes with this new crew.

See Kaleb Joseph
I know, it's shocking that JB and his staff actually miss occasionally on their player evaluations.

When he adds some muscle he is going to be unstoppable. I just would like to know who the people are who thought there were 73 better high school seniors than him?

If he adds 15-20 lbs, he is a player of the year candidate in my opinion. He is learning to use his size as we speak. Those high lows yesterday with Roberson were so pretty.

And his hands catching the ball on those high lows were incredible.

SU post passing...not exactly our calling card historically.

44cuse

It all depends on the kid, his family etc. No one mentions the guys that stick around. Maybe they like being in college, maybe they don't need the money now. Or maybe they just want to do something w/ their lives that doesn't involve the N.B.A., you know something important. Leaving early is a fact of life, everyone is different, why speculate?

That's a big point. If he does have the talent and gets NBA attention, he's not going any later than Junior year. No one is gonna spend a first rounder on a 23 year old unless that guy will contribute IMMEDIATELY.

Damn, I was 20 going into senior year.

He had 2 plays where his footwork on the baseline to save us from a turnover were ballet-like. For a big guy like that fighting momentum and getting the saves was amazing.
