Is we are playing our D, we dont have a couple of the horses. It got better when Trill came back Sat.

But we have so many "coaches" here what do we do to stop the 1 thing thats gashing us in the A gap?

I know its often the MLB getting in the wrong hole.. But I am surprised against teams like Duke/Liberty we didnt force the hand a few more times with run blitzes. Clemson is we cant be that aggressive since they have answers on the outside and every where else but those other teams didnt.

I am more concerned about the edges, which I think is the weak spot of the 3-3-5.
BTW do you remember how PTG ran roughshod over WVU in the Pinstripe Bowl? We beat the Mountaineers 38-14 while rushing for 369 yards and passing for only 138. We ran 73% of the time. Jerome Smith had 152 yards up the middle and PTG had 215, including a couple of long ones. PTG was MVP.

Think Marrone and c Hackett knew something?

We need a two-gap NT. And there isn't one. Hasn't been one, really, since Slayton and Steven.

Yup That is the real issue, Playing without the 1 spot you need to control in any D and it would be much the same if we were playing a 4-3. We cant control the center and that means the LBs are getting pounded and pushed every play.

Can you imagine Steven, Chris, and Bear as the front 3. You could stop Clemson with those 3.

It'd be nice, but those 3 aren't stopping Clemson. Etienne would run around them all day. Shoot, no 1 is stopping Clemson. Best qb and rb in the country.

Probably so, but I will say that those three wouldn't be blown 5+ yards off the LOS. And Clemson would be running more to the outside.

That I can agree with!

Those 3 at least 2 would demand a double team allowing the linebackers opportunities to make plays.

I agree, but on his show last week, Dino said say they were looking smaller, quicker D-Linemen in the 3-3-5.

I'd rather have anyone who'd be able to clog up the middle. Especially at the 1 spot.

well we dont really have quick at this point, small and not quick wont work. bigger and wont quick might.

Whether Bear comes back or not, it will be critical for Dino and White to find two NTs via transfer this winter. Maybe White poaches someone from Arizona State he knows to get one but we will need at least two on the team next year that can eat two blockers.
