Tired of All the Red Bashing...

This sounds a little extreme but then you remember that Red started Justin Taylor for 14 games at PF over Maliq Brown last year. The same Justin Taylor getting 13mpg at JMU (no offense) this year. In fact it was only injury that forced Red to put Maliq into the starting lineup.
Speaking of Taylor, he has yet to hit a three this year.

Red usually makes a lot of sense during his press conferences, but he lost me when he said that he was happy with the shots we got. We took numerous contested three pointers and some really contested, long two pointers. Carlos and Cuffe as well as Davis are the offenders that immediately come to mind.
Agree, his press conference was odd. It's also concerning that Red said this was "our best defensive effort." We allowed one of the worst 3pt shooting teams in the country to shoot 47% and they still shot 43% overall. That really says something about this team...

He doesn’t have his guys, in a sense. Starling is injured, Lampkin hasn’t been 100% for most of the season, Bell regressed, and Leffew’s at Georgia.

While Red may not be HC material, judging him over factors outside of his control doesn’t seem reasonable IMO.
This opinion is why the program will never get back to where it was, people like this fan will keep going to games and the people in power will be happy taking their money. Uconn fired Kevin Ollie after a couple down years because they didn't want their program to go where cuse is now.

Guys, let's not be to hasty...

It's only year 2.
So? This isn't like the 'old days' when you had to give a coach a few years to get 'his' guys.. If a coach has an eye for talent and can coach he can turn the program right around in a year. Autry first year was JB's players, this year is Autrys.. How do you like the season so far?

Serious question: are assistant coaches in college basketball basically just there for recruiting?

Just another thought. Right now how can Autry or the staff pretend to even recruit for 2026? Let’s forget 2025 recruiting class for a min.

I would imagine these 2026 kids are laughing when the staff calls right now to make promises about the Orange Standard.

Where Autry is right now would be like if Fran went 5-7 his rookie year and then was 1-5 with its only win against Holy Cross and no P5 wins getting close to half way through the season in year 2.

Even if both of them are great HS recruiters that hype goes away real fast when they know you can’t win games.

That is how they were treated under JB and that is who Red learned from so...

Setting aside the Red bashing for a moment; the hands and passing on the team are terrible. Lampkin started out the season with a bit of Magic in him and now he can't bounce the ball on the floor twice without turning it over and I can't remember the last good pass he had. Numerous others are not much better - we've started the last three games with bushels of turnovers. Bell and Moore, our two supposed 3pt aces, have both miraculously forgotten how to make a basket.

OK, back to bashing Red.

My take is that Bell was the first to check out, then when JJ went down Lampkin checked out knowing this wasnt close to a tourney team and he’s got some back issues. Why try when the only guys left over from last year don’t seem to care.

Carlos, Taylor and Davis aren’t talented enough and that leaves the freshman. Cuffe really is just getting minutes but was 2-14 and 1-8 from deep today.

Pretty disasterous

There is really good news for Cuse BB fans. Come mid March we won't have to read the tea leaves or call California Psychics to aleve the anxiety that every year brings about us making the big dance. The final nail was hammered today

All of our players are competitive, they all try hard despite what you and others say. Sometimes people are not good enough in their walks of life to meet everyone's expectations; unlike many of the critics on this board who apparently are A+ overachievers.

I always thought it was ironic that Taylor was from Charlottesville, VA and Tony Bennett did not recruit him. Tells you something right there.

The ACC is god awful. How it has fallen. Will be interesting to see Syracuse against other mediocre conference teams.
I think with JJ we'll win some games. Maybe 6 or 7.

It’s not a tough question to answer at all, it’s easy. No one expected Bell to be this bad. No one.

I didn’t realize Lydon’s regression was anything other than accepted as reality. If you want to insist he didn’t, that’s fine. Pick literally any other player who regressed and my guess is he didn’t regress as much as Bell.
I did
