Really happy right now. Parked on Clifton (for free) and made the terrible decision to cut through Burnet Woods in the winter after rain. Of course I went down. After some emergency laundry at the Dewey's Pizza Bar facilities to remove the brown from the Orange I returned to enjoy some beverages and meet SoBeCuse and El Jefe Sr. And then hike up to 5/3.

We were met with all the students pointing and giving Jeff and I the classic A$$_HOLE - A$$-HOLE chant. (mostly I, they knew who the loud one would be)

And then the spitwads started...and they never stopped.

When KJo got our first bucket I am sure that I am the guy on your audio that went "AND 1 BABY YEAH" There was some good nature stuff from a couple other students but nothing terrible. But the spitballs kept coming, about once every twenty seconds, all game long.

As far as the game....

It has been said many times that when teams make their first few (like 4 of 5) shots against the zone they can fall in love with it, and that is just what happened. 4-5 became 8-25. Fools gold. I think extending helped. :) But really, i'd let Dixon shoot an open three all day, he sucks. Cash Wright not so much. He is solid. I talked up Justin Jackson and that he'd get 5 Orebs, he only got 2. I though Yancy at one point would finish with 25+ but they just stopped feeding it to him.

I posted in the other thread how Rak really played very well. 9 rebounds was huge and those two assists he got were pretty old school Cuse. (imaging a guy wearing #21 with high socks catching those passes).

Speaking of that. Jim Boeheim >>> Mick Cronin. Duh.

I don't know what happened with our big heads, but UC went off on them. Herbert, the Jackson 5, Ron Burgundy. The one that said "Scoop likes Nickelback" was extra-awesome.
But the Captain Boeheim was BY FAR the best classiest Big Head ever. If you didn't see it I'll post a pic when I can figure out what I did to my phone trying to post it.

All in all, a great game by Kris (that baseline throw down was sweet) and Scoop, even Triche. Southerland didn't make his open threes tonight but did other things well. 7 boards and 2 blocks. But really, Christmas played very well when he had to. Also CJ went after it. Best defensive rebounding game in a while.

Now lets uses these two long weeks to heal up the bumps, get Fabs in order and win two more before we take that murderous Feb 8-13 strech of ranked teams. Oh and Beat WVU and the Johnnies. of course.

Best free ticket I ever got. (well, really it was $1785)

IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING!!!

Thanks for the report. How did you get tix in the Cincy student section?

It was nice to see a whole bunch of you on TV wearing Orange, spoiling their whiteout.

Hence the spitballs

It was a trade for $1785 tuition.

If that was you guys , you reminded me of the short story "old man and the sea."

HaHa, I think I saw you four.. One of you had number on your shirt? Also saw the JB bighead with the handlebar mustache drawn on. Thanks for the recap A$$_Hole!

How many Cuse fans were there...I had to listen to the game on Sirius and the Cuse cheering came through loud and clear. Nice job!

I got a laugh out of the big head of the pedophile from family guy lol. And honestly it just crossed my mind that that could have been a bernie thing, which wouldnt be cool..

Went to both Notre Dame and UC, and they were more at Notre Dame, but still maybe 1000 tops out 13,000 tonight were Cuse fans.
Season Ticket Holder next to me said only Louisville brings more fans (and Xavier when it is their year for the Crosstown shootout/ brawl)

I know my "AND 1" was clear in the tv replay on Joseph's first score of the game.

No they were in Row 10 and we were in 8 and on the other side of the basket. I'm on TV twice and the Orange blur behind the backboard is me in this game pic of Dirty's and-1. Funny on that play the big heads were blocking my view for the free throw (they were doing it on purpose) but I said "I don't need to see it to know its good".

In the first half I randomly blurted "Cipolla Shot Money" on a C.J. first 15 ft baseline jumper while it was in the air and it went, I felt good about that.

Dewey's Pizza had Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye and Stone IPA on tap. Nice prelude to a good game. Quite a few scattered around the arena...maybe 80/20 UC fans but the SU faithful were loud. DNabb5 summed things up really well so I'll just add a few things. I wasn't in the student section. Had good seats high up with a nice view since it's not a big arena. The people around me were cool. Mostly students and young adults but they knew their basketball. Everyone was impressed with the talent and the defense. One dude turned around to me when Dion checked in and said, " that's Waiters coming in, right?" Lucky for them he had an off game. Just really impressed with the toughness SU showed. Really fun game to watch even though it was a grinder. DNabb5, El Jefe, and I on our walk to the cars talked about what a great game JB called. He had a lot of balls to stick with that lineup mid second H onwards. Nice bounce back game from Joseph.

Yes that was definitely us. Granted there was some abuse, but totally worth it. At some point with about 20 sec. left the spit wads turned to a pelt-down of "white-out" wristbands - sorry no momentos.

I had a great time meeting DNabb and SoBe and the small but scrappy group of Orange faithful here in the midwest.

This thread helps me realize why I've hung around these message boards for over 10 years, and reminds me of my gratitude to Joyce, Jake, Fishy, Bees, Tomcat, and everyone else responsible for keeping this and previous boards alive and active.

This thread also brings back many great of memories of long ago trips to NY, Penn State, Cornell, Colgate, LA, and other spots to watch SU games.

The SU message boards have allowed me to remain in contact with SU sports as I've lived and been in many parts of the world. Also, renewed old friendships (Joyce) and created new ones (BocaDoug, SyracuseOrange, etc.). In some ways, this and previous boards are like the fountain of youth; one can be a perennial college student forever.

Roll on, Cuse! The Orange Nation lives on!
