My Take

Over the 6 game losing streak we've been outscored 105-26 in the 1st half.

I understand, but if you take a look at it...

Pittsburgh was 17-7 at half but was only 10-7 until we didnt cover a punt and it became 17-7.
Georgia Tech 20-3 at half but it was only 10-3 with 4 mins left in the half.
UNC was 10-6 with Syracuse leading at half
Miami was 14-0 at half. Was 7-0 until under two minutes left in the half.

None of those games are out of hand by halftime.

You can argue that the only two out of hand at halftime were SMU and Duke.

it kind of reminds me of team we have before with very poor offenses. defense comes out and plays OK at times but eventually they turn into blowouts because the offense never does anything. At least the defense is capable of playing respectable football at times. Other coaches know it, play it close to the vest on offense and eventually you will get points and Syracuse can't really respond. Get up 10-14 points and it's essentially game over

I hear you. For me (accepting the possibility that I might be on an island here) it just feels kinda like fool's gold to think that until X, Y, or Z happened those games were relative close in the 1st half. Those things almost always happen to bad teams.

On average, the games have been over anytime the opposing team scores over 12 points (we have averaged 11.7/game). And that score was easily eclipsed 5 times in the 1st half over the losing streak. That seems like a reasonable definition of noncompetitive.
