Myles Davis no longer benches 215

He now does 315 14 to 15 times and maxs out at 500 lbs
Source? I'm more interested in his weight, speed, and whether he has recovered fully from his injuries.

For a second I thought you were gonna say he lost weight and he benches less...

sets of 300+ is pretty good for a HS age kid. every decent sized school probably has some kids who can do that although 14-15 is a pretty good set.. not many kids can max 500 though at his size. Most HS lineman cant do that unless they are 300 lbs themselves

Is that good:rolleyes:
Myles Davis is the most physically ready LB SU has recruited in a while. He is enormous. I hope he can contribute at the Mike next year.

I know he doesn't have the height for a perfect fit, but with his strength and linebacker speed, he could probably make a nice well-rounded DE if he was either beat out by other 'backers, or lost a step through his bulking up and knee issue.

Still would like to see him at MLB though, I get our defense is based on speed, but time to get back to cracking heads like in the old days. Once we can start grabbing some higher rated recruits, I want us nabbing a 240lb MLB and 225lb SS every other class.

He was supposed to have a physical this week to get his final medical clearance. Don't know if he will be limited at all in the spring. He's 6' 1" 235 lbs now.

On the downside, it took three surgeries to put the knee back together...the last was Feb of 2011. He says he feels 100% and is ready to go...

God... our luck with MLBs just seems off, doesn't it... This kid is a wrong step away from getting close to Conley status before he even gets here... Sad part is, it's still lightyears better than what we had in Pierce the day he stepped on campus. Just didn't know it yet.

Hope hes not juicing. Do they even test for that?
I know a guy that committed to Va Tech at OLB, and the first day he got there they brought him to the trainer to set him up for the right dosage of steroids so he could get bigger. He said no, walked out the door, never looked back. I seriously doubt they test because they know they can't control it

More than good, pretty insane numbers for a HS kid... more insane for someone that is not an interior lineman. Hope he can stay healthy.

I'm not questioning your story, but something doesn't sound right there. If a school is providing juice for their athletes, that's not likely how it would go down.

If you all think that doesn't go on here you're crazy. It's part of the game.
Where does a university get PED'S? and how is that legal?

Not talking about the University, just juicing in collegiate football in general.

So do you think the folks in the 35487 zip code might have deleved into some?

More likely the kid just likes to work out. Since his knee was blown out he couldn't work the lower half and OD'd working out up top.
They have supplements to help you work out.

It all depends on the timeframe of the improvement. Going from 215 to 500 in anything less than 2 years would leave me awfully skeptical of either: (1) the validity of the max numbers (both the 215 on the low side and/or the 500 on the high side) or, (2) that the strength gains are natural. There are supplements out there that can nearly replicate the results of AAS (steroids), but they are hyper expensive ($100+ per week).

We all need to remember that Myles Davis IS nearly two years out of high school.

ok well thats way to big of a jump in bench press to be natural. the proper nutrition it would take and level of expertise leads me to believe he had some "help"

You're misinterpreting the numbers. Back when he first committed, he was repping 215 easily, as he is 300 now. His max (one rep) was above 300 IIRC. It isn't that difficult to bring your max up that high in 2 years, same with reps. I recently started getting back in the gym for serious lifting for the first time in years, and in 2 months added 50 lbs to my max and 25 pounds to my rep weight. Whey protein helps a lot too, and is cheap and legal. Every time we see a big kid now people assume he's juicing, which is sad.
