Nait George in the portal

Couldn’t apply pressure on the defense executing a high pick and roll.

Good luck to him. Get me someone new.

at the time everyone felt it was a great pick up. he was ranked anywhere from the #1 to #5 best available pg in the portal. we overpaid just to get him. but it was lauded by analysts and fans alike.
I admit I was super excited about him he didn’t have a good Robin

Do you think he can be fairly judged after playing in Reds system ? I don’t think any of the players this year caj be fairly evaluated. If you remember early in the year they were actually a very good team competing well against some the best teams in the country

Agreed most thought it was a great pickup. Sometimes it doesn't work out. He was inconsistent. Good news is it not like we signed him to a multi year.

I went to the Florida State game this past season, one of his best performances by far.

It’s a shame he couldn’t replicate those kind of assist totals more often.

Most of the games I watched on TV, George was pretty awful.

You've implied that a bunch of times. I'm guessing there is a lot to it but I don't understand how a player at this level of competition can feel that way.
Yeah, definitely amazes me when people have these opportunities and then don’t seem to care, but we’ll never know what’s going on inside someone’s head.

I can’t even imagine if someone gave me $2 million when I was 20 years old. Probably inflated ego and my drive to work wouldn’t be the same. And let’s face it, someone will give George a nice chunk of change to play for them next year. Maybe not as much, but still significant.

I think Bulldog floated there was a Kentucky offer awhile back for George.

Absolutely no loss here. His performance against Boston College was one of the lowlights of our season and the impetus for the mess that was the rest of the year. This guy played like he had himself on his own fantasy basketball team. He took bad shots and did not make anybody better which is a problem for a point guard. His defense was awful. He could not stay in front of anybody. If JJ was the biggest roster decision that contributed to Red losing his job, George was a close second. Hopefully Gerry find a point guard who can prioritize taking care of the ball, playing tough on ball defense and getting the ball to his teammates in position to score.

I get that and feel that way as well. However initial post what was he supposed to do? Sort of a vague description previously what does that mean? Guessing games? Subtle inferences to his motivation stating that he did not care? Was he supposed to turn his paycheck in? How about Donnie Freeman? How about the entire Kentucky roster? I personally do not think he was extremely talented, seemingly a nice kid. No question mark here

He needs to be the backup to a really good experienced point guard for the first year or two.

He is a lot better than people think - dont downgrade just because he was signed by Siena.
I'm downgrading because it's very difficult for a guy his size to play well right away.

We need him to be 3rd.

A lot of truth there, He is not a dog. Maybe he will become I don't know. Massive defensive liability and not a true lead guard in my opinion. That's just mine on a message board. Get a lead dog who hopefully has integrity maturity and will bark out orders especially on the defensive end. seems like that's what we're going to be looking for especially if it's reflective of the new assistant coach hires as well as the defensive intensity that Siena displayed last year. The elite teams that were here previously were elite defensively, And obviously serviceable and or above average offensively. It is still true today for sure. Keep believing

My issue with George is that we lost a lot of close games early and in the middle of the season. He never made it a priority to get the ball to the correct guys at the end of the games. Poor shot selection was a problem. Poor shot selection happens a lot because the point guard didn’t/couldn’t get us into the right sets. I think of the last play in regulation against Houston. What was he thinking? At best Kyle might get fouled. You really want Kyle shooting free throws to determine a game?
