Nassib or Hunt?

Big Apples to Oranges to me. Both qb's have their pluses and minuses. I did see someone comment on the O-Line in 2010 and in 2013 and to be honest I'd think that having a more mobile qb like Hunt would have made the 2010 version better sack wise as well.

What to me is funny and I could be wrong but it seemed Nassib checked down too often and Hunt doesn't do it enough. It just may be the systems.

A lot of people seem to forget that Nassib threw the ball too hard too close too often and struggled with his touch. He got better reading defenses at the line as he got older and really struggled with the long ball and end zone corner touches. But, he could hit the spot hard and his outs were solid. His pocket presence got better as did his step ups in the pocket. But...that did take a while. You could see the potential of what he could do once he figured things out. Really focused on end of game drives, especially as got more experience.

Hunt...he looked like a point guard on that last drive. Awkward elusiveness but yet still effective in getting away from defenders and picking up yardage. Soft touch and decent arm strength. Learning to look off a receivers but still has to improve that. Catchable ball but not a real strong arm...solid though. Impressed with his soft tosses.

I like both players obviously and am very proud of what both have accomplished. I'll be very happy if Hunt is the qb from here on at SU and if one of the young bucks is even better and proves it on the field, I see this as being a win-win situation.

Let's also remember after Nassib's sophomore year he had shown enough to lock up the QB spot for the next 2 years and we knew who are QB was going forward. I'm not so sure if Hunt is our starting QB next year, he was very unimpressive this year minus yesterday's game. In fact Hunt's last start at QB for SU could be the bowl game we play in a couple weeks. Hunt will have to fight for this job next spring/summer and I'm not so sure he will win it.

Agreed, either way will be good to have him

As a sophomore? Nassib was far from incredible.

Wasn't really talking about Nassib's sophomore year despite the OP, but I would still take Nassib as a soph versus Hunt as a soph.

I think both were really bad as sophomores. perry Patterson bad. One of those 3 early on was the worst qb ever at Syracuse in the modern era. Take your pick. I have been following since about 1984.

Nassib had a great senior year but he was terrible as a sophomore and a little less terrible as a junior for the most part, IMO.

In Nassib's defense, his raw numbers were not that great, but he had something like 8 or 10 game winning drives in his first couple years. That's why they had faith in him.

Very different players. Hunt has the running ability. If he can develop as a passer...watch out.

Nassib had no pocket presence his soph. year. His decision-making was extremely slow. He could have been a better runner but took too long to commit to it.

Nassib because you could see the potential was there to be very very good.

I think Nassib was the better QB at this stage, but Hunt has a slightly more effective style.

Provo, Sales and Lemon are not hard to match. We're not in the Big East anymore. Sammy Watkins and co. are hard to match. FSU's WRs are hard to match. Ebron of UNC is hard to match. Marylands duo before injury are hard to match. We need to start bringing in those types of players to compete in the ACC...and it looks like we are.
True though in reality those 3 were no slouches. Given more motivation, Sales would be dressing up on Sundays right now. Lemon is in a good situation to develop and play for the Texans. And Provo just got picked up to join his buddies Nassib and Pugh on the G men.

Three NFL caliber receivers are nothing to sneeze at.

Last two games were better passer rating than any conf game from 2010. And that doesn't even factor in his excellent rushing. Hunts bad stretch was remarkably bad. Jekyll and HydeHyde

Hunt

I think we walked by you near the Davis statue at two thirty but wasn't sure and didn't know how to explain to a two year old that it's a guy I argue with on the internet, so I didn't flag you down

Yeah, my mom and I were walking across the Quad.

She would have liked to have met you - "can you please shut up my over-opinionated son!?"

That's funny cause she has said that to me a couple of times over the years.
