You should of the stuff that happened on the hill before. That's a coach that doesn't have control of his program off the court.

Let's hope the map of the next 20 yrs of basketball champions doesn't start looking like the football one...
They gave him one of Wimp Sanderson's old sport coats too. When did I get so old??
Ridiculous stretch, even for you. Shameless.Well this goes to show having a player involved in a murder isnt a death sentence for the coach, pun intended
Gets a contract extension 2 weeks after the incident. That story got swept up and stored away real quick. Its amazing what you can get away with when you are winning, compared to the debates on JB here.

Well nothing from a legal standpoint but don't you think that is a bad look for his program? What exactly is Oates culpability there?
Get away with ? He’s survived two separate sets of ncaa sanctions , the Bernie Fine Mess, and crappy results for the last few years. I’d say he’s been given plenty of latitudeWell this goes to show having a player involved in a murder isnt a death sentence for the coach, pun intended

There’s been nothing to indicate Oates had any reason to question the kids character, from my understanding.Well nothing from a legal standpoint but don't you think that is a bad look for his program?
Isnt there a question of the character of player(s) he is bringing into his program after something like that? Timing of the extension is a little questionable, wouldn't you think?

agreed, Im not callin for Oates to be fired and I was surprised Kelly survived that. It was because they were already paying off Weis. When it comes to college kids getting killed Brian Kelly bears a greater degree of responsibility than Nate Oates

My point is the optics look bad to give out a contract extension 2 weeks after one of your players has been charged with murder. Thats not a DUI or busted for pot, murder is kinda serious.

The key point is there a buy out? They gave him one of Wimp Sanderson's old sport coats too. When did I get so old??
So you’re saying the kid was a real straight shooter?
I’m sorry
I don't care. I still want Nate Oats to be the next head coach of the Syracuse University Men's Basketball Team.
