NBA 2018-2019

that TO by nurse, up 6 , with possession, KL on a 10 point run. GSW completely out of it and confused on D...worst coach intervention move of all time. KL is the best coach in on the Raptors. if he needed a TO, let him call it..otherwise and let him end it.

notice right after the TO they put Green on him and then switched of to Thompson. Don't think they drew that scheme up on the sidelines during the TO? MVP Nurse.

The Warriors owe offering Kevin Durant the full 221 million max if he blew out his Achilles rushing back for them in the Finals.
The guy was out for 4 weeks. Hardly rushed him back. GS is notorious for protecting players health. Sometimes, things just happen, and it's no one's fault.

I kinda get it. Toronto's first and only NBA championship, and you have a chance to not just be there, but have your own documented proof of a game and series winning bucket?

Not saying I'd do it, just I get why people do.
Not sure why people feel the need to document their own experiences, when doing so detracts from the experience. we

its funny. I’m reading pissed off tweets from insufferable Knicks fans blaming the Warriors for rushing Durant back. How do we know it was then that rushed him back? The media played a big part in this IMO.

Nobody rushed him back but himself. These guys want to play more than we want to breath air.

The funniest part is that within the past 24 hours, we had stories about how the Warriors players thought Durant was being too cautious by sitting out Game 4 and now since he got hurt again the narrative has completely flipped from “He could have played Game 4” to “He wasn’t ready to play Game 5”

We have no idea what his original injury was. The idea it was just a strained calf was spin IMO.
The Warriors being down 3-1 in the NBA Finals rushed him back:
The guy wasn’t obviously not close to 100% when he started that game last night.
The guy is a pending FA and the Warriors owe offering him the max. He may decline it but since all it will cost the Warriors owners is luxury tax dollars.
Look at Boogie Cousins who tore his Achilles his explosiveness on the court has not been close to the same this year.
If Durant has a torn Achilles he won’t be close to what he has been till the 2020-2021 season.

The Durant saga is going to be fascinating. Deep down, does he blame the Warriors for pushing him back? Even if that wasn't the truth at the time, an injury like that brings out strong emotions. And what will motivate him from here? Will he exercise the player option, rehab like a madman, then try to sign and get revenge. What if Warriors act super apologetic and offer an extension? Say we are sorry but we want you to be a cornerstone.

Finally how does he do after the recovery? Younger players (Dominique) did fine post-recovery. Durant, in my opinion, has the best chance of almost anyone to pass Kareem. I hope he recovers and still gets that opportunity

The Warriors may not have rushed him back but then facing elimination is why I think he played last night.
So in that case it was there play without him that rushed him back.
You are correct the ESPN shows and the H0T Takes from them were a factor.

Achilles injuries are worse than ACL tears.
Achilles tear weakens the Achilles forever, and limits mobility in your foot from that moment forward which changes your entire bio-mechanics.

A repaired ACL is actually stronger, and more stable than a natural-ACL. So even though the injury is bad and you don’t have to worry about collateral damage the ACL itself is actually better after the reconstruction than before.
You have 4 ligaments around the ACL which can absorb the shock the Achilles doesn’t.
I actually hope he tore his ACL than ruptured his Achilles.

Tim Kawakami who is the Warriors beat writer for the athletic is getting killed because I guess it wasn’t as accurate.

Also the same people killing the Warriors are a lot of the same people who said Durant was soft for years lol.

So then he rushed himself back. This happens in football all the time. Basketball is weird about injuries.

Both regular and social media connected to sports these days is such garbage. It's the NBA Finals, it's no ones fault that this happened. Of course he's going to give it a shot if he thinks he can help his team that is struggling without him. I played 2 extra games in a worthless damn mens baseball league with a torn meniscus because 2 guys were out of town and we needed to have 9 guys. What happened last night was just an unfortunate ending that if anyone thought was likely then wouldn't have happened.

I'm just selfishly disappointed because this off-season has always looked like it was going to be the most fascinating in possibly sports history and it just took a big hit 2 weeks before it was showtime.

The Lakers could have won last night if Kyrie wants to leave and because Durant is going to be out for a while means Kyrie to LA could happen now.

I would be shocked if Kyrie went to NY. I think it’s really going to be the Nets. I’m not a believer that Kyrie is hell bent on playing with Durant. It would be a nice to have not a must have.

If Kyrie went to Brooklyn it’s likely Durant was going there as well.
The Nets traded Crabbe to the Hawks to facilitate the addition of 2 max slots.
So it was likely that Durant/Kyrie could have gone to the Nets instead of the Knicks.

It makes no sense for Kyrie to leave a young team with Boston for a younger team further away in Brooklyn without Durant going there as well.
Knicks fans thought they were getting them both but it appears it could have been the Nets that lost last night.

Kyrie can go to LA with LeBron or sign a 1+1 with Boston and have them gut their team for Anthony Davis and go all-in like Toronto has done this year.
Other FAs
Kemba either Charlotte or NY Knicks
Butler either Philadelphia or Lakers.
Leonard either Toronto or Clippers.

Pelicans want to deal AD before the draft. Can the Celtics make a move like that without a guarantee from Kyrie? Seems like they may be out on AD.

Also appears the Celtics are after Capela.

If AD is traded before the draft the only team that could do that deal is the Lakers.
The Knick and Nets didn’t know which team was getting the Superstars.
If the Lakers are going to gut their team for AD I don’t know if they do that before striking out in FA.
The draft should be moved back a week after FA starts. It is a bad spot on the calendar.

I hope the Celtics don’t trade Horford for Capela.

Yup. Just a horrific move. Funnily enough, “he takes great timeouts!” is one of the things I’ve heard him get praised for.

That was the very definition of overcoaching, and ignoring the flow of the game.

Nurse said he called TO because his team was gassed.
I agree with your analysis on that situation though. The TO allowed the Warriors to regroup and go all-in to try and comeback and they did.

I still think Toronto will win this series but last night was a bad loss for them.

My friend knows Kyrie from high school playing days, and has hung out with him, KD, and some other warrior players. The KD/Kyrie relationship is real. Somehow, KD is a bit ‘off’ socially, but he still has a bond with Irving. If they both had their druthers, I do think they’d engineer a situation where they play together. But, it’s still a complex, contextual thing, so even before last night it might not have happened. Now it’s just so much more complicated and interesting.

So, what’s the deal? KD could not opt out of the Warriors and collect his contracted pay for next year while rehabbing the entire season and maybe playing in the late playoffs... or another team takes the risk on a 95% player going forward, knowing he won’t contribute at all next regular season... unless one of hose teams is also convinced it can make it deep into the playoffs without him? But by leaving Golden State, he can’t make as much as if Golden State signed him to a Supermax after next year? I try not to get too involved in contracts and caps and such, but this off season is going to be real compelling stuff. That whole thing, and whether or not anyone impactful really wants to play with LeBron anymore, or in the Lakers’ sh1tshowtime situation...

That brings up one more interesting (albeit remote scenario). Say a team signs the injured KD. Then spends all of 2019/2020 tanking and gutting the team. Then you have KD, a top 5 pick, and cap space for 20/21

Don't think there's any chance he's signing up for any situation remotely resembling that.

I’m no doctor or NBA front office guy or player, but it seems to me that it’s common sense that if a guy can’t go 100% in practice, then he can’t play in a playoff game.

If the reports are true that he was limited in practice, seems really irresponsible and wrong to put him out there.

And anyone who was questioning KD isnt worth paying attention to. If you’re hurt, you’re hurt.

Playing devils advocate here, but Kawhi definately isn't 100 percent. What's the chance he blows out his quadriceps tendon? Should he be playing?
