NBA Thread 2021-22 Season

He’s quite improved as a defender, but old narratives die hard especially from the Lebron stans.

Poole doesn’t even try at times.

On paper this has been Steph's best year on the defensive side of the ball. year 13 nonetheless. He certainly will never be a lockdown defender but that's pretty impressive. He's been better for sure

my buddy claims again Steph comes up short in big moments. Also spurred an interesting discussion where he ranks all time. I have him around 20. Thoughts?

If he wins I think he's pushing top 10-12, IMO.

Not in any order...MJ, LeBron, Kareem, Bird, Magic, Wilt, Russell, Kobe, Shaq, Tim Duncan and I think you can start the debate there. He's in there with Hakeem, Jerry West, Dr J, Big O, KD.

Steph has really transformed the game with his range from the outside. Also phenomenal team guy.

The claim against is he's the worst defender on the floor a lot (Despite improved) and those guys listed are more well rounded players. Also the clutch thing, like I mentioned. Idk. It's a debate we really get into, and it just leads to emotional arguments honestly. I think having Curry top 20 is very reasonable. My buddy thinks 15 or higher is way too high.

Then having Kobe ranked that high is way too high.

Curry should play 42-44 minutes. It’s the last series of the season. They can’t afford him on the bench too long against the Celtics defense. If Poole plays like he did last night he’s unplayable. I’d consider giving Payton some of Pooles minutes in game 2.
White negated Poole’s speed on offense as well.

He agrees Kobe is too high
Only brought that up because I feel like you have brought up this conversation before. If Curry didn’t exist then Lebron would have about 7 titles.

That said Steph has better finals and playoff stats all time than Kobe and the reason I am pulling for the dubs even though I like watching the Celtics is it is going to drive Lebron stans insane as evidenced by Fireballs post above.

So, didn’t see this talked about last night, but how did they let Van Gundy call the last eastern finals game sounding like he did and knowing Breen was in Covid protocol?

That's interesting.

You can make a credible argument that Steph is the most valuable player to anyone he has played with, ever, in the league.

Even now, but especially during his prime, he fundamentally changed the way defenses were able to defend.

The on/off numbers when they had the super team with KD, even, had him showcasing to be the most important (have to look up the stats).

My top ten:
MJ
Bron
KAJ
Magic
Bird
Russell/Wilt (its s tough for me to slot them in exactly because I never saw them play)
Duncan (I like Duncan even more than most)
KD/Steph
Hakeem or Shaq (I actually lean to Hakeem here, but I think Giannis is going to slot in right here or even higher depending)

Guys that I think could knock someone else off that are in the league now:
Giannis (on his way) & Luka (will need to get the hardware)

Yeah, that was ridiculous. He also just had low energy, so it wasn't a well-called game.

I need my buddy to join these forums, his favorite player ever is Shaq. Will absolutely love to get some discussion here!

Still better than Jackson who has to be the most miserable color guy in all of sports.

Peak Shaq that was a guaranteed 40 and 20 in a big game if it was needed, was really something else.

I went to bed. Figured GS had it. Hate the late start times on work nights. And game 2 is……Sunday night. 2 days off when they’re not even traveling. SMH.

They’re losing me.
Hockey doing it great. 8 pm even when the game is being played in the mountain time zone. They know people on the west coast don't care.

If they want to start it at 9 when the game is in GS, fine….but start it at 7:30 or 8:00 when it’s in Boston. All those Cali people are working remotely anyway, they can tune in for a 4:30 or 5:00 start.

This waiting until Sunday night thing really irks me though. Either go Saturday Night, or Sunday afternoon or at least early evening.

Rangers game Sunday afternoon in Tampa and they have to travel real late tonight. So much better.
