Wow, check out this thread. These guys STILL haven't gotten over our basketball game in Raleigh last December. (just copy/paste url and remove the space between s and c)

TBH they sound a lot like this place when we talk about Rutgers or WVU.

NC State might end up being our new rival. Of course they would need to not suck first.

Stay classy NC State...That's how the south works...nice to your face but once you turn your back...Also, it's funny that everybody forgets the additional $4 million they will be getting due to our & Pitts addition??

Truth be told I live in NC and I like NCSU fans better than Duke or UNC fans.

Maybe I am naive but i did not know that Southerners(NC) hated the north East that much still. Interesting comments about how we are uncouth, not cordial, all while speaking in generalities referring to Yankees as slime, and scum. Their comments remind me of Providence fans. At the last SUvs. PC bball game at Providence 3 or 4 people talked trash before the game, when i returned fire for the next 2 hours they got mad. Matter of fact they complained about me on their board. the trash talking is fine of it is being done by them, when they are winning, anything else is unacceptable.

There is no humility lesson whe n you suck. If they were good at anything other than fishing, you'd hate them too

NC State fans appear to be one of the perennial 'Complainer' fanbases in the ACC from what I have read on other ACC boards...

There biggest problem with us is they were shocked when our travel fanbase took over their B-Ball arena last winter and are equating that embarrassing moment with "...we're all just a-hole, d*****bags..."

We did embarrass them and they are having a hard time with it. Wish I cared that they are mad about it (like the pleasure that pwning G'town's arena and fans brings...) Maybe a few years from now it will mean more...

No one likes to be pwned in there home arena... and it must have been a bit of a shock and awe moment for many of them that morphed to anger when all was said and done.

I have a feeling they will be complaining about syracuse fans for a very long time going forward.

So be it... the world has crybabies and whiners too...

It's funny to read how opposing fan bases view themselves.

I think they are concerned more that a team is moving right in well ahead of them in hoops, and that could quite easily surpass them in football thus making them even more irrelivent in their own confrence.

NC State fans seem to view their teams as much more valuable then they actually are. When is the last time they won a conference title in hoops or football?

More than likely you are right but I know the NCSU fans were definatly suprised with how the fan base showed up.

It has been awhile for them but they have a really good freshman class coming in and they should be able to make some noise in Bball. I'm glad too because the only teams in the ACC the past few years have been Duke and UNC. I like it when most games are worth watching like a majority of BE games.

Now they know how we roll. Were our fans out of line down there or something?

Those were some quality quotes in that thread. I have a whole bunch of Clemson fans/alums on my block and none of them will even discuss the ACC move. I am starting to get the impression the welcome mat isn't going to be thrown out for us.:)

Hardly. It was fun game but like many away games SU fans equaled NCSU fans and overall we were much louder.

I didn't read the thread (I can guess). And I'm sure they probably feel the same about us as I'm about to say about them. They really are a blah institution when it comes to revenue sports. At least in my opinion. There's really nothing recent about the football program that sticks out (other than Russell Wilson's success somewhere else). There's nothing recent about the basketball program that sticks out. Their brand name is completely overshadowed by others in their state.

They do have the legend, the inspiration, in Jimmy V., and his national title. But that national title was a long time ago.

That pretty much sums up why I have no interest in opening up that thread. Other than being in the same conference now, it's just not a program that I would ever spend much time thinking about.

ACC road games are going to be so much fun. I'm really excited at the prospect of these Southerners being introduced to our fan base and having to deal with us regularly, especially if we start winning in football too.

Not really. It was a combination of things I believe. Out of conference game at home. A larger fan base than normal to come watch an away game. Our fans were boisterous throughout the game and we put it on them pretty good. I think their fans felt disrespected. Our fans would have had broken noses if the shoe was on the other foot. This how good rivalries start. If their program keeps heading in the direction they started last year it should be pretty fun. UNC and Duke will be fun too but it is tougher to get tickets since the gyms they play in are smaller and on campus.

Agreed their hoops team seems to be on an uptick but historically their upticks don't carry them close to winning the ACC. Looks like they finished 2nd (2 games back) in 2003 in hoops but most years they about as mediocre, mid pack team as there is in both hoops and football. They're never terrible, but their never a big threat either. I looked back 10 years for both hoops and football and they haven't really challenged for the ACC title in either. I thought perhaps they wouldve gotten closer during the Phillip Rivers years in football.

Just from reading a few threads in the past, their fans seem to have the little brother "look at me! I'm important!" mentality that we are accustomed to from some BE teams, and in similar fashion the other ACC teams just kind of brush them off and ignore them.

Yep. They're the Rutgers of the ACC.

They do have a bit of a complex in bball for sure but the coach they got last year is pretty good and has a solid staff. I don't think he cares who is in his conference he wants to recruit against you and feels that his team, staff and himself deserve to be in the mix. It is a different mindset there from the past. I think it will be fun

Reading their complaints about our trip to their arena last December makes my heart happy.

Seriously, that was just a great performance by our fans. I've said before, but I do hope our fan base takes up the challenge of embracing the ACC Tournament, showing up in droves clad in Orange, and making the entire conference hate us.

What a depressing read that thread is/was. For as much as the majority of their fanbase doesn't want Yankees (I'm a Red Sox fan) "invading" their conference and for as much whining as they're doing about it, one would think that NCSU was actually a decent university with high quality athletic programs rather than an apparent collection of self-important douchebags whose feelings get easily bruised when their team loses to a team with excellent traveling fan support.

They can't wait for JB to retire so our program can sink to the level of our football program.

I love our locust fanbase.

Have you ever been to a game when playing Syracuse? They are some of the worse fans I've ever been around. Absolute *** holes.

Don't have an issue with Yankees but Syracuse fans are just plain jackasses

Those of you who have no problem with Syracuse will change your opinions once you start getting exposure to their fans. I'll guarantee it. They make Maryland fans look like southern belles.

Worst fans I've ever been around, by a longshot. And unfortunately, there's alot of'em around NC. Tailgating with them may turn into a battle royal if the way they acted at the bball game this year is the norm.

I will say that with the number of NY transplants in the Carolina's it is not a far fetched moniker that NC is really Southern NY :)

I live in a suburb of Charlotte and on my block alone there is myself, a guy Rochester, one from Buffalo, a lady from New Paltz, and another guy from Ogdensburg
