Wow, check out this thread. These guys STILL haven't gotten over our basketball game in Raleigh last December. (just copy/paste url and remove the space between s and c)

Actually they are more like VT . Most natives here in NC that did not attend college do not actually root for UNC but instead (in my experience) are mostly NC State fans. The difference between UNC and State is very similar to UVA and VT. One is more middle to upper class and the other total redneck.
Well, I live in Pinehurst about an hour from Raleigh/Durham and 72% of the folks here are from the MW or NE, not the South. Also, lots of folks who went to Duke, UNC or NCS and just stayed after graduation. Have not found many SU fans. For me this is a dream come true - I will be within driving distance of 4 ACC venues (5 if you count an overnight to Blacksburg). So, I could care less how welcome we are - I am going to games in Orange from head to toe (except if I went to Clemson where I would have to add some blue).
I went over to their Pack Pride board to reply, but it's a pay board & I wouldn't want to support this inbred bunch.Did this bring a smile to anyone else's face? For some reason I enjoy the role of the heel.
Have you ever been to a game when playing Syracuse? They are some of the worse fans I've ever been around. Absolute *** holes.
Don't have an issue with Yankees but Syracuse fans are just plain jackasses
Those of you who have no problem with Syracuse will change your opinions once you start getting exposure to their fans. I'll guarantee it. They make Maryland fans look like southern belles.
Worst fans I've ever been around, by a longshot. And unfortunately, there's alot of'em around NC. Tailgating with them may turn into a battle royal if the way they acted at the bball game this year is the norm.
They do sound like Rutgers fans.Best post: "Just another reason to go to the SEC."
Yeah, fella. I'm sure they're just hemming and hawing over the right stationary to write your invitation on.
Zactly...ncSTATE will become our new Rutgizz...but alas they have actually won some trophies.Sounds like rutgers.

Wasn't it at NCSt that Keuth Duany was harrassed by their fans because of his blackness (being Sudanese)? If it wasn't NCSt I apologize but I remember I couldn't believe a fanbase could do something like that in this day and age. I don't like admitting it but I've stereotyped their fans and administration ever since because of that incident.

Once the horn sounded, I remember quite clearly Duany running off the court with a big freaking grin on his face and pointing toward the section of students that were ridding him.
You can't blame them for not attending weekend games on account of NASCAR being on.
Great post. Thanks for sharing your experience from that game. I'm looking forward to playing you guys in all sports.I'm an NC State fan that has been following this board since around the time of Syracuse's announcement of joining the ACC. First, I won't apologize for what any other NC State fan says with regard to Syracuse, or "yankees," or whatever. I'll just let it be fodder for when we meet on the gridiron and on the court. Second, I am opposed to "Expansion" in general - and not just ACC expansion, but the loss of rivalries and round-robin scheduling across the NCAA spectrum, and would rather the landscape be filled with very strong regional conferences of no more than 10 schools. I was always a fan of the classic Big East as well as a fan of the ACC. I would not have minded adding either VA Tech or Miami back in the day to get the ACC to ten schools, leaving the Big East alone to do their own thing, but that ship has sailed. Since expansion is an inevitable thing, I have zero problems with Syracuse being one of the schools added to the ACC; the same for Pitt. In fact, your school was one of the ones I was hoping would be added back in the early 2000's until VA Tech flexed their political muscle.
As far as the quote above, I was at that game. From what I can remember, there was a small section of students near the area where the opposing team entered that was riding Duany pretty hard. From where I was sitting, I couldn't hear anything that was said. What I do know is that it certainly wasn't a whole-crowd-chant or anything focused on Duany for any reason, so whatever those students may have said, I can't confirm or deny - though I wouldn't be surprised if the accusations of taunting concerning his blackness were true. What I do know, and this is just from vague memory, is that we were up pretty good - maybe 13-15 points with about three minutes to go, when Duany went off on us. In typical Herb Sendek fashion, we blew the game, and Duany was a HUGE part of Syracuse's comeback. Once the horn sounded, I remember quite clearly Duany running off the court with a big freaking grin on his face and pointing toward the section of students that were ridding him. Again, I have no idea what was said to him, but I know that he was a big part of the comeback, and he was giving it back to those on his way out, justifiably, that had given him **** for most of the game. I left the arena convinced that Herb Sendek could never take us to the next level. It was a solemn crowd.
I have no reason for posting the above except to say that I look forward to squaring off against one of the top 10 (maybe 5) basketball programs of the last 20 years at least once a year, and...hopefully...continuing our record against Syracuse in football. It should be fun. Try not the think about 2-point conversions, and I'll try to forget the heartbreaking losses in basketball.
I applied for access to the PackPride Scout board and was denied...huh? Anyone else get denied? I recommend we link another NCSt fan forum in the dropdown if they are going to deny us posting over there.

NASCAR - that's the deal where everyone rides around in circles? Some SU fans work in NASCAR! Can't wait to see many games within a few hours of Charlotte.

Welcome to the board Miasta. You and Woad are two of the few ACC fans who have ventured here so far. Every school has some bad apples...SU and NC State included. Hope to see a lot of memorable games between our schools in the future. I think there is the potential for an excellent rivalry in hoops and football in the future.
Anything you can do about the NC State board rejecting SU fans applying before they have even made a post? These are good fans that just want to talk ACC sports...
