NC State Postgame

This is JJ's season of FGs by zone. Very basic analytics here, but looking it this, I wouldn't want him taking any other shot but at the rim or a corner 3 (and the corner 3 percentage is very likely a small sample size). Instead, JJ is among the league leaders in % of shots taken in the paint and mid range twos where he has a FG% under 40(!).

Agreed. And btw, at this point in his career, this isn't on JJ, it's on Red. Why would JJ ever change if he's never been coached to?

JJ was open for a reason. They wanted him to shoot. And when he wasn’t open he still shot the ball including when Kingz was open in the second half. It was selfish.

I don't remember the Kingz snub, but I did watch the game.

JJ was 2-6 from 3 - 33%. That's not terrible.
George was 0-4 from three, and Betsey 1-3 - also 33%.

Two thirds of JJ's shots were inside the arc, so it's not like he forced it from three. They were mostly open looks with him moving without the ball.

Analytics wanted to keep JJ out of the midrange, and he got 5 buckets there.

Obviously it's been working since JJ has a career record of 52-53.
