NCAA First Round thread

Appreciate the updates been following the scores but wasn’t able to tune in today until end of Duke, saw highlights from the rest. Rough day for the ACC, but I’m ok with Duke and UNC going out sorry. Let’s go Cuse

well, that was furn. good group of teams going thru. the orange will have their hands full in the quarters if they get by harvard.

The parity everyone has been talking about is officially here. I would assume that we would be smart enough not to be flying too high after winning the ACC last week, but hopefully today's events will get the team's attention. Nothing will be given to them the entire way through. They have to go and take it.

Well also think what was shown is the level of play is raised. Have to reach the next step of play. While also mistakes that been making all year will double hurt if appear. Colgate learned it with turnovers n psu with their shakey goalie play. It’s playoffs the energy of teams is diff much higher. Have to match it n then go above it.

Go Colgate!
Colgate really blew it. They had that one-man clear around two minutes, 10-10 and instead of finding a guy at X or calling a timeout, the dude, who was totally worn out, made a terrible attempt to beat his man on a crease move. Ugh. Then they had that awful failed clear. Forced it to the guy at the face-off X...who didn't even put his stick up as a target! And then that D-man took a god awful angle on the 11-10 goal for Penn State. You CANNOT take that angle and let the guy get undneath you to go near pipe.

Man, that one hurts. Neither team played that great, but Colgate really had a chance there late and made three bad plays. Self-sabotage hurts more than being outplayed. Would have been an awesome win for the program.

Went to the Gtown-Duke game in person. It was never really in doubt, as I saw it. Gtown got up a few early and it was always just Duke chasing them. Lots of sloppy play out of Duke. And when you don't have Naso facing off, it's not so easy to always stay in it. Gotta wonder when John D. will call it quits. He seems younger than he is, but if he couldn't do it again with Sowers and O'Neill, I'm not sure he'll do it again.

Sidenote: Georgetown's uniforms were pathetic. They looked like a summer league team. Man, those were just absolutely boring, something from the mid 90s, it seemed.

On the other hand, I thought Richmond's were pretty sharp and classy, and I don't even like red for sports uniforms.

Gonna be another fun day of games. Princeton looked DANGEROUS yesterday. They really do have 4-6 guys who can absolutely fill it up and score 4 or 5 goals with ease. MacKesy didn't even touch the ball much. Oh, and that freshman for Towson - Fitzpatrick? - that dude is damn good and quick as heck. I was impressed. I think he's a Long Island guy, not sure why NY schools let him get away to MD...

Danowski is a great coach but this is trending similar to Deskos last few years, at some point you gotta let him know it's time to go
Zero titles in 11 years despite absurd recruiting and transfer classes.
I completely agree. If you can't do it with Sowers and O'Neill and then Naso winning every faceoff for 4 straight years, I'm not sure you're going to do it. And yeah, 2014 is awhile ago. (And they shouldn't have been in the NC in 2023, dude's foot was A MILE into the crease and everyone, including him, knew it)

He's not a spring chicken, looks younger than he is. And I'm really curious to see what happens. If you watch Duke games closely, and I go to quite a few in person, Matt and John almost NEVER talk. I can't tell if it just how they work or if there is actually something going on.

And outside of the Championship game appearance a couple of years ago they've had some ugly tournament losses in the last few years
And that shouldn't have happened, the Duke dude's foot was a mile into the crease and everyone, including him, knew it. I'll always hate Duke a bit more after that guy, instead of being modest and shutting up when he knew it shouldn't have been a goal because his foot was in the crease, ripped off his helmet and ran around the field. If you win on a blown call, run to the locker room and keep a low profile.

So far in each game can see the team that comes out playing on a level above normal is one usually leading or closer to dub. Syracuse better come out with same energy n ready to step it up even more then last two games. Teams are playing for their season can’t come out flat or mistake ridden. Have to play top level smart hustle lacrosse.

B10 champ getting annihilated by the ACC champ at home. Not good for the B10.
Lynch was huge on face-offs. ND offense had a great game plan for getting shots in close.
OSU had arguably an unfair draw - should have had Colgate. But full credit to ND - they looked good in every area and the offense was brilliant.
