Colgate really blew it. They had that one-man clear around two minutes, 10-10 and instead of finding a guy at X or calling a timeout, the dude, who was totally worn out, made a terrible attempt to beat his man on a crease move. Ugh. Then they had that awful failed clear. Forced it to the guy at the face-off X...who didn't even put his stick up as a target! And then that D-man took a god awful angle on the 11-10 goal for Penn State. You CANNOT take that angle and let the guy get undneath you to go near pipe.
Man, that one hurts. Neither team played that great, but Colgate really had a chance there late and made three bad plays. Self-sabotage hurts more than being outplayed. Would have been an awesome win for the program.
Went to the Gtown-Duke game in person. It was never really in doubt, as I saw it. Gtown got up a few early and it was always just Duke chasing them. Lots of sloppy play out of Duke. And when you don't have Naso facing off, it's not so easy to always stay in it. Gotta wonder when John D. will call it quits. He seems younger than he is, but if he couldn't do it again with Sowers and O'Neill, I'm not sure he'll do it again.
Sidenote: Georgetown's uniforms were pathetic. They looked like a summer league team. Man, those were just absolutely boring, something from the mid 90s, it seemed.
On the other hand, I thought Richmond's were pretty sharp and classy, and I don't even like red for sports uniforms.
Gonna be another fun day of games. Princeton looked DANGEROUS yesterday. They really do have 4-6 guys who can absolutely fill it up and score 4 or 5 goals with ease. MacKesy didn't even touch the ball much. Oh, and that freshman for Towson - Fitzpatrick? - that dude is damn good and quick as heck. I was impressed. I think he's a Long Island guy, not sure why NY schools let him get away to MD...
